Hair growing back

I have one peg-intron shot left- Dec. 4 and a 2 weeks of Ribavirin left -Dec. 11.  Hopefully I won't have  to receive Neulasta and Aresnap after that. But my question is how long will it take for my hair to grow  back?  It's really thin!

I lost  about 80% and let me tell you, it grew back like a weed!  Hair is supposed to only grow about a 1/2" a month but mine went way faster than that...I kept wearing my wigs until it was almost shoulder length and now it's half way down my back and I cut it all the time!

The good news is that it's like getting a complete do-over.  Nice new lovely hair (of course I"ve re-bleached and reprocessed it enough now that it's back to normal but...it was fun while it lasted!)

Thank you for the high hopes!  I thought it would grow back a little faster, I guess I'm in a rush to be "normal" again.

Mine only stopped falling out about 2 months post treatment. I lost about 70% and it went all straight. I am biracial and was born with nice curls and very soft hair.

I had it permed to look like my natural hair and cut post tx and it looks fine. Now it has started to grow back curly and healthy and soft, and since I had it permed, the new hair grows naturally into the perm. There is definitely a difference in the thickness, but I have the ends cut out gradually, so I will end up only with my natural hair. I am now 8 months post tx and it is a long process. I guess it goes faster with straight hair, because it grows into one direction... Mine grows in circles and it takes longer for it to get long :-)

Can't wait to get my mane back!

My hair started growing like wildfire a few months after finishing tx.  I had stopped colouring it during tx and it grew back very healthy and I loved it UNTIL I decided to have highlights last week.  What a mistake that was!  The colourist put the streaks through to the ends and it has really ruined the hair older hair strands that were affected by treatment.  It feels very similar to the way it did on tx and it is driving me crazy!

My advice would be treat it gently while it grows back in...

Hi t27ertwine

I am 8 weeks post treatment and my hair is nearly back to what it was before treatment.  I have just recently coloured it with a non ammonia hair dye.  My hair was very very thick before treatment and thinned out lots during treatment.  It feels much nicer too than what it did on treatment.........it was more like straw when I was on  treatment!!

My hair started to grow back right away after I finished tx.  Like yours, my hair had got very thin but it all came back within a matter of 2-3 months.

Mine continued to fall out for 7-8 weeks past EOT and must have started growing back in at the same time it stopped falling, because I noticed new hair about 2" long about 2 mos. after the fallout stopped.  I haven't heard anything form anyone on this forum whose hair did not regrow.   Funny but lots of people have commented positively on my feathery new 'look'.  I could not get a hairdresser to reproduce it if I tried.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news on this, but mine only just quit falling out a couple weeks ago, and I'm almost 4 months post tx. I was beginning to wonder if less was coming out because it was really stopping or because there was less up there to fall out! I will have to say it has been growing back while still falling out. I have a lot of little short pieces around the hairline. Everybody's different with this, however. I'm sure you will hear from others on this. I don't wash it very often as it seems like that's when it comes out (I have long hair and I comb out with conditioner in the shower). Bet your glad to be almost done!
