Hep B shot during treatmen

Have a quick question,  I was told by my dr that I need to get shot for hep A and B before I start treatment.  I got my first shots today but I was told it's a series and my last of 3 hep B shots will be in 7 months.  I would have started tx by that time.  Has anybody gotten their hep B shot during tx.  The nurse at pcp said it's ok. but, she also didn't use gloves to give me the shot.
Thanks for info, Lori

??? I am from the DC/Maryland area and we are expecting snow today.  As I have stated before I am not on tx yet but I suffer from a lot of muscle and joint pain and very fatigue.  I am TOBT  (tired of being tired). when I was seeing my PCP she related it all to arthritis but now I know it is the HCV.  My question is how the cold weather affects those who are in pain and also are suffering from fatigue is it like the arthritis get worst in the cold weather?  I do not plan to go out tomorrow if we do get a lot of snow I will work from home.  I am also planning on taking off when I start my treatment if need be.  Thanks,  for you encouraging words and believe me if it was not for you guys I would be sitting around feeling sorry for-my-self instead of trying to do all I can to help myself.
Peace and Love to you.

Thanks Everyone,

I will continue to ask for all my charts on everything I have done.  I started with my first lab work.  Also I glad to here I am not being too pushing with contacting the dr. offices. That is what I was thinking also, this is my body and life and If I don't take care of it who will?  I will post my biopsy results when I get them.  Also have anyone heard from Lovedbygod?  I have not seen a post in a while and I hope very thing is ok.
much love and peace to all my friends.

I ask them to fax my results as soon as they get them.  I have NO patience to see how much BETTER I am getting!  :)

Your blood work should be ready in 24 hours (CBC, Hep Panel. Those are two tests you should get EVERY week to look out for the dread ANEMIA!  it is VITAL to you!)

I was wondering about LovedbyGod too.  I am hoping that she is on vacation with the holidays or something. I was looking for friole as well but she finally posted.

Seems a bunch of people are not feeling so well right now. Maybe cause of the weather change I am hoping too if it is the case.

No Tyree you remind me just of me when I found out. I was doing everything possible to get all the ducks in a row to start right away!  You sound like you are learning so much and doing just right if you ask me!  :)  ALWAYS stay on top of everything is the best way to go.  NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR RESULTS AND YOU AS MUCH AS YOU!!!!!!!!  Don't count on the doctors to keep on, after I get my test I always call THAT DAY for a fax for my records (or however long it takes for the results to come back...I call until I get them!).  My doctor doesn't send me a letter for TWO WEEKS and I'd have no idea what was up.

When you start getting your paperwork (ALWAYS GET A COPY OF EVERYTHING!!!) post the results in here and they will be explainned.  I had NO idea what anything meant AT ALL but the guys in HERE took the time to explain everything that the doctor did NOT.  Jim & other are very good about doing that - he had more patience with me I cannot tell you! There are very knowledgable people in here who ARE willing to help!

I don't really know anything about shellfish I just always thought for some reason that you could get one of the other heps from oysters or something (I read something in here and don't remember what much about someone saying they ate ?oysters? all the time and was going to quit?)

I think that most of us have gotten them.  I sure did right away.

I am on treatment now 11/48 but my last hepA/B shot is not scheduled until March so you are just fine on schedule with this all.

Don't give it a second thought just concentrate on treatment and keeping your attitude up!

I haven't started tx yet however my doc wouldn't even think of treating until I started the series for both a and b.  I've gotten shots 1 and 2 and will end up getting my third while on tx.

It sucks getting shot in each arm on the same day as getting blood drawn.  shiver shiver.....too much poking.

That's the beauty of TX. When you need to get more meds for stuff like vaccines, flu, ANC meds, CBC and PCR sticks - you're feeling like **** anyway. Might as well just pile it on and get it over with.  Can you imagine the toxic soup in our bodies?  The CSI folks would have a field day with the stuff in me.  To added to the chemical total - I cheated with a Twinkie last night. (to clarify the sponge cake Twinkie, not Deseriee down the block Twinkie)

Well as long as you don't kill Desiree the twinkie from eating the twinkie.....(wait...just to clarify you don't kill her from eating the cake twinkie not from eating desiree the twinkie)

It would be interesting to see some of those tests done....especially from the hair....will this stuff stay in your hair forever and some 1000 years later when we're being dug up and having test done on us to see who we were...there gonna be like man they were some drug using people weren't they.

take care

Waving my hand here!  Yep, I had the third Hep B injection while under the influence, along with a pneumococcal vaccine.  Now THAT was overkill, but I survived just fine.  Was just a little extra fluish for a day or two and my throwing arm was shot, but that was no biggie for someone who still throws like a girl.

My first question to him was "well how am I going to get a different hepatitis? I don't even eat shellfish or anything!"

And he said well you don't have a clue where you got THIS hepatitis from do you?

got shot one, then a month later shot two...shot three after six months.

NO big deal and as he said...totally worth it to prevent any chance for more damage.

I also need the Hep b shots and will be getting the first one next week. And hopfully I can start tx soon after the first shot. Or will I have to wait until I get all of them or at lease two of them?  And what is this about the shellfish.  I am a seafood lover and eat some type of shellfish every week.  Is this something I will have to stop.  The things the doctors are not telling us stinks.  I am so glad I got all my question written down when I had my last visit.  I will be seeing my liver doc on tues and I was hoping she would be starting my treatment soon.  All my meds have be approved by the insurence co.  I had my bx yesterday and the results should be back by my next visit.  I am afraid I am moving too fast because I call to make an appointment I did not wait for them to call me in.   I call the insurence co. about the drugs and they did not cover them but I got my doctor involved and they were then approved. Maybe I need to slow down and the the doctor do their jobs but I know the women who work in the office are very slow about getting things done.  What do you think????  Should I slow down or continue to work toward geeting my treatment started?

I am due for my third Hep B shot this month.  I'm doing shot 21 of 48 tonight tx.  My GI tested for B & A in the beginning and urged me to get the vaccinations because I was negative.  He said it would not affect the tx.

Keep on top of the doctors, nurses, insurance & pharmacy ALWAYS.  If you let them "do their jobs", it may take years.  I am still fighting for Procrit to be approved.  My pharmacist & doctor's office call my insurance company daily.  This has been going on for at least 3 weeks now and I NEED it.  Don't slow down or "get off their backs".  This is YOUR body we are talking about.

I would recommend to start the tx ASAP depending on your bx results.  If you don't have significant liver damage, you may want to wait.  There are several people here with strong opinions both pro & con on that who are much more knowledgeable than I.  Best of luck to you!

No idea about the shellfish?????  Debby, or someone?

I also did not get any of the vaccines mentioned.MY chances of getting hep b are about the same as getting hep c again. Hep A is different, it is more contagious and easily transmissible.

I have C and am on week 14 of treatment (daily shot, infergen & rib) I asked my doc about getting shots for A & B and he said that I was at no risk for B so it wasn't necessary and that I can't get one for A cause I'm on treatment.  This kinda scares me....should I push for shots?  Oh, and I just found out about the "no shellfish" so I spent the last 3 months eating alot of shrimp & little necks.  When I asked my doctor about this he said "oh, forgot to tell you about that".  Thank god I saw it mentioned in this forum!!

I got both A&B just before TX started.  B #2 during TX and will get B #3 just after TX done. No problems.  Remember what doc said at the time 'you sure don't want to chance getting A or B while you're dealing with C'.  Hepatitis is a lot like Sesame Street, you learn a lot about the first three letters of the alphabet.  Also learned about hgb, anc, ast, alt, tsh, pcr, cbc.  There should be a real annonying rhyming song about HCV, which is really a 4-letter word to me.
