Psi 7977 and Bms Treatment Change???

Does anyone know if this trial just changed from 12 weeks to 12 or 24 weeks based on response? Or is this a brand new trial? Someone else on another site had said this might happen. Did it??

Thanks for listening, guys.  I felt so silly later yesterday about saying what I'd said.  People are dying of cancer, for Chrissake.  My little sister died of malignant lymphoma when she was only 7.  I was 8.  Could have been me.  I wrote the above post when I had been having sharp pains at the bottom of both rib cages and all I could think of was the hernia and should I start driving to Boston.  I'm trying to hide it from my daughter sitting a few feet away who's going to make a grandmother in May, and I'm actually worried I might not still be here.  I have a swollen belly I cannot get rid of.  My usual lose-weight diet and exercise regime are not working.  In fact, I feel like I'm gaining weight.  Hernia?  HepC?  Too much popcorn?  Agh!  My brilliant doctor in Boston says it's the popcorn.  I don't know.  You guys here are the best.  :)

Hang in there ChrisDDD, hopefully these drugs will be on the market soon.
In the meantime you are doing what you can to care for your liver and you seem to have a good Hep. C doctor in Boston-a serious bravo to you!

Well, what does one say after hearing/reading all that? Just very sad that you've had to endure so much in your life. Let's hope and pray these drugs get approved FAST!! 7977 AND BMS drug are in phase III.
Next month we'll hear more news from the EASL conference and results of some 12 week trials.

I want to thank everyone who is posting about the oral-only trials, as they look encouraging and are my only hope.  I'm genotype 1b, failed all 3 treatments, and managed to develop retinal hemorrhaging on Infergen in '05.  To add to the fun, I had a mild stroke in '09 and developed an irregular heartbeat, rendering me ineligible for ANY clinical trials.  At my last appointment a couple of months ago, the doctors noted the umbilical hernia I had managed to develop without even knowing it!  (Hold your applause, please.). I'm 57 years old.  My local HepC doc refuses to do any abdominal surgery, especially to remove the hernia.  My fabulous HepC doc in Boston will remove the hernia if it becomes a problem, but would rather not.  Hearing the early results of the PI trials gives me hope, plus the fact they really are doing them now.  I have grown rather skeptical of clinical trials, their timing, their outcomes and FDA approval, which is the only way I'll ever get treatment again.  I'm very well compensated, crossing my fingers and hoping I won't need any kind of abdominal surgery or decompensate before I can treat with the PI's.  Sorry to go on for so long.  I have friends I can talk to, but none who understand what I'm going through like you guys do.  Applause is now welcomed.

You folks may have already reviewed but if not take a look. This is the hcvadvocate site that list trials with some notes added on a regular basis. Choose the pdf download and scroll down to find the different trials. Best of luck everyone and keep us posted.

Thank you for sharing your journey with everything! That was some very good news you shared. Two people are still UD after 12 weeks. I wonder what their genotype is. Next month we should be hearing about trials starting up with 7977+Riba for a lot of different catagories. Also, Abbott will be coming out soon with new trials. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say at the EASL conference next month.

Joy has remained in my prayers. I hope she joins us.

I start the rollover this Thursday. The first time, I was on 938 and a placebo. Even so I was undetected by my fourth week. There were 2 people at my clinical study who are still undetected-one who had 7977and 938 and the other had 7977 and I think, riba. The guy who had 7977 and 938 was on the drugs for nearly 12 weeks. The rest of us had a much shorter time on the drugs and we were told that the virus would likely return.
They stopped the study early because some people had a toxic reaction to 938. Apparently, their liver enzyme levels suddenly shot up, even though there was success in taking down the virus.
I don't know where Joy is...she didn't reply to my note. She might just be giving it all a rest for now. I look forward to sharing this experience with you guys.

Yes, it is a different trial. It is the psi7977 and Bms.

To: Candyce1953

Yes, I made a mistake, the 24 wks. are old arms. Sorry for the confusion.

To: gonnabhepcfree

I had tried calling several times but couldn't get a call back. I did find out it is just 12 wks. I hope that will be enough time. I start this Thursday or Friday.

Thanks everyone!!

Hi rivll, when do you start your trial? Where's Joy that was also rolling over from the 938? Did you take 7977+938 the first time around?

Aren't those top arms (24) old arms?

I will be taking Riba and 7977 as the rollover from a previously halted trial. It is going to be for 24 weeks, whatever the response.
The trial you refer to must be a new trial, not the rollover that I am doing.

I think I just discovered that the bms790052 and psi7977 w or w/o riba trial has just added new arms and changed to 12 or 24 weeks based on response!! Someone correct me if I am mistaken please. I am euphorically happy hoping that's the case because the 12 week perimeter was my main concern in starting this trial next week. Here is the Nct # NCT01359644.
