Hep C and Nephrotic Syndrome

Good day everyone,

Well I just finished 24 weeks of Hep C treatment.  Hardest thing I've ever done in my life and to those going through it hang in there and don't give up.  I was undetectable at 4 weeks and 12 weeks and did the Incivek treatment.  Prior to being diagnosed with Hep C I was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome.  My question is that if I have attained SVR what are my chances of my kidneys returning to normal.  I've done research on this but have inconclusive answers.  If anyone knows anything or can direct me to a site that shows remission rates for nephrotic syndrome post treatment of HCV it would be greatly appreciated.

**I must say the stories on this site helped me get through this ordeal.  So to everyone all the best, good luck in beating this virus and thanks.***

Thanks Savannah for responding.  Sorry to hear about your mom though.  I've had nephrotic syndrome for about 3 years and that's how I found out about the Hep C.  Got Hep C from when I was a child through a blood transfusion.  Had the antibodies all my life but virus became active a few years ago.  No liver damage though.  Now that i'm done the Hep C treatment I just want the kidneys to go back to normal so I can enjoy life once again.  Thanks for the link also and cheers to you.

My first post didn't post for some reason so this one is a little shorter but here goes. My mom was hiv/hcv co-infected. She passed in 2007 from cirrhosis and a few years before she passed she had kidney problems due to hep c. Even without svr they went into remission. I'm not sure your story, but if I remember correctly as long as they haven't been being damaged for a long time they should get better. I just wanted to give you a remission story and let you know that they can heal when induced from hep c. Good luck and I pray you get that svr.
