can you catch hep c by having sex?

In my youth I had sewn my share of wild oats and, at times, not in the most pristine of pastures. When I found out I had hep C my wife, being fully aware of my past dalliances, immediately assumed I had gotten it as some form of STD and therefore likely had passed it to her. As soon as she found out about me being HCV positive she scheduled a test for herself. No surprise to her when the test came back positive. I had infected her with the virus!
I had gotten a lot of grief over this for about ten years. I had gone through TX and arranged for her to see my doctor. Surprise! Her's was a different type. I was 2b, her 1a. I had not infected her originally or after having had unprotected sexual relationships between us for 30years. Further she had not infected me. Likely neither of us were infected by having had sex with partners that were infected. There are many more efficient ways to transmit this than by sexual means.

Hi, I didn't find out till I was in my fifties that one can catch Hep B from having sex. Hep C is blood to blood so if both partners have open sores or cuts, it could happen. Gloves are good. I am not an expert.
