Hepatitis C test

I live in the UK can I geta test for hepatitis C.  I had a blood transfusion in 1973.

I would ask because it took 25 years for my enzymes to go up, but my liver was being damaged anyhow. Gr.2 St.2 is all, but my enzymes were fine a year before.

I think you could just go to your general doctor and he would discuss with you whether you need one or not.  It's just a blood test not a very big deal.  Most of us find during a regular exam that our liver enzyme levels are very high and that is why they give us the PCR test to determine if we have hep or not.  If you aren't having that or any other problems they might not think it's worthwhile - but you can always ask.
