Need to find a dr in or around Tulsa, Okla.--Can anyone help? SOS!!!

Tulsa has tried to find a dr to treat but has been turned away as some are not accepting new patients or they don't treat for hep C.
Any help is greatly needed,  I know my self, I saw 3 drs in Fl and they wouldn't treat me because of my Thalassemia so I know the feeling.

I agree, try to get past the receptionist who often doesnt know her a$$ from a hole in the ground. They are the front line people and know the least. Sad really. Doctors often dont realize the stupid things they say to people who call and how uninformed they are. They will schedule an appt. in 3 weeks when the patients need to be seen TODAY.Forget to order meds, etc. etc. There are so many incidences of their ineptitude affecting your health. Their actions and inactions can have tragic consequences. I know, a receptionist was responsible for callling patients to tell them of positive infection results,  misplaced the paperwork ( it fell behind her desk) so the record was not noted, the doctor therefore did not follow up and the patient was untreated. That ultimately turned into a near death experience, hospital stay and a lawsuit. Try to speak to a nurse ( RN) or go in in person, sometimes that helps. Beter yet, demand to speak to the doctor himself. They WILL call eventually, it doesn't have to be an emergency.

I went to the Oklahoma health department web site and the the Tulsa County Health Department site and it appears that they do have services for all residents that live in Oklahoma/Tulsa County. They mention lower costs for health care and resources.

Try this out and start calling all of the numbers you can find on this web site , and you WILL end up with the right names and numbers of people that can help. I hope.

Good luck , I'll keep my eyes open for anything else that would be helpful.

BB, one thing I have found to be effective in the "no new patients" department is to say you were referred by another Dr in the area.... lying works.. you just have to get by the sometimes TWIT minded person on the front line phone.  For example, I told my Dr. that I had tried to make an appt with his wife, and she wasn't taking new patients.  He was appalled, said that was NOT TRUE, but thats what the receptionist said...

my goodness I just seen this thread. I have been at a family reunion all day, thanks everyone. I can't believe what great response. I will call the numbers on the link Monday. I have a good feeling I will find someone. I just have to keep looking. Also I have a friend, who has a friend that treated with a doctor and she is going to get his mame for me. And the one that treated, works for the doctor. So that might help too. Thanks again, God bless everyone
