I have been a part of this hep c site for a short time, But found you all very informative and helpful....Thank you a million times over. I have now been re-tested and in fact hep c negative. This particular test tells us that you do not have active virus; and it’s very specific for infection... unlike antibody tests that are subject to error.
It doesn’t tell us whether or not any previous exposure actually occurred in the past, however. You could have been exposed and cleared the virus, or you might never have been exposed to begin with. If you were inclined, the test to determine that would be a ‘HCV RIBA’ test.
Bottom line is that you are not currently infected with HCV; and will not be unless, like anyone, you are exposed to the virus sometime in the future.
I can’t imagine any further action required on your part; you should be done with this entirely. Live long and happily,
