You're coinfected (HIV) and bipolar, two conditions that complicate treatment and call for the most experienced medical team. Unless you are already, my best advice then is to consult with a liver specialist (hepatologist) who has experience treating co-infected individuals. Hepatologists can usually be found at your larger, teaching hospitals. On one hand you have time to wait for better drugs, but on the other your genotype (3) can sometimes progress faster toward cirrhosis than the other genotypes and your coinfected status can also accelerate that process. Another reason to see a hepatologist as opposed to a Gastroenterologist. You need expert monitoring if you decide to wait and you need experienced supervision should you decide to treat.

If your liver is in good shape, I would definitely wait, on the new tx coming out in a couple of years.

Which means liver biopsy.  now.

Get yourself in great physical shape.
Learn to eat healthy.  Drink water and exercise.  Take a daily multivitamin and several on here can help you with appropriate sups.

Find out if you are insulin resistant and if you are , check out the southbeach diet to get that under control.

Yes, you need to be in the best shape of your life... (i know , people have cleared that were in bad shape, but I really believe that you stand a better chance if you in good shape.)  That doesnt mean going on a weight lifting/ body building program.   20 minutes a day of exercise and healthy diet.

If you are depressed , then start working on finding an A.D. that works for you , ... it might take a few tries, but eventually you will find one.
TX induces depression in many, so if you are already depressed then tx is just going to make it worse.   An don't go off your ad when you start treatment.  Just ride it out.

good luck!

Now health diet is difficult because so much of what we have been led to believe is healthy is , in fact, not.

So read, read, read.  Ask lots of questions.

What I did was to straighten out my diet and started regular exercise. I wanted to start tx in "tip top" shape. How could that not help? I was in the best shape I have been in in years.

Don't put on extra weight whatever you do!!!!!!!!!!!
The more ideal your BMI the better.Keep well hydrated.
'Detoxing' (whatever that is ) won't make any diffference.
You'll have a good idea of where the treatment is taking you after four weeks when you get your4 viral load.
No special preparation needed ,just hold your nose and jump in!
