My husband got his biopsy results back today. We couldn't get them interpreted because the VA Hep C. doctor wasn't in due to the weather. So I am trying to figure out on my own. Here is what it says:
Microscopic Exam:
Sections show adequate sampling of liver biopsy with normal lobular architecture. There is mild to moderate infiltrative lympocytes in portal tracts and lobular areas. There is interface hepatitis. There is no bile duct proliferation, inflammation, or bridging fibrosis indenified. There is periportal fibrosis. Trichrome and reticulin stains support these findings. The stain for iron is negative.
Surgical Path Dx
Liver biopsy:
Chronic Hepatitis C, Moderate Acticity, with periportal fibrosis.
Any idea what stage this is or how bad it is?
