Hugh red spot on leg / help

I have a pretty big red spot on my leg where I gave the 2nd shot. Spoke with my doctor, sd not to give a shot on the inside of my leg anymore.  Does this go away and how long does it take.  I put caladryl lotion on it for itch and it helped a little but the red is still there and swollen.  Does this happen often in the shots.  My first shot did not do this.

Yep, new job I mentioned before...I was in the Patient Accounting dept for 5 years, thought I needed a change, went to Central Reg...BIG mistake...took any job I could to get the heck outa there and ended up in Medical Records...I lost a LOT of power going there and didn't like it one bit...Finally my nemesis (the hated person now in I.S.) left and my old job was basically available again only this time it was no other 'Coordinator' except me. I have almost supreme power and I love it! However...the down side is all this nonsense...and the need to be able to think amid chaos...

Small world isn't it? If I remember correctly you work for Medicaid now?

(shaking my head),  is this  the new job you were talking about or a new position within the same company?  It sounds worse than tx! or maybe they are all on tx of some sort! Sounds extremely stressful.
I used to work for your competitor, ;-}...
well, not too much of a competitor like Affinity.  It was Fidelis. I don't think they are upstate in big numbers llike Vytra and others. I was in marketing. pitiful. I was like a fish out of water in that dog eat dog world, oops my daughter would cringe at that one, it was a cuthroat eat cuthroat world.  And the pay was dismal.

Try to keep the door to your office closed...

When I worked at United Healthcare we had desks that were smack up against each other, row after row, double sided facing each other too...somebody DID get so mad at somebody else they picked up their stapler and threw it at the person accross the desk! Needless to say, fired...

The lady that had steam coming out of her ears is so funny, she hates this other person (different person than she was fighting with yesterday) with a passion, that person left the dept and went to I.S. (HA! she is an idiot, good riddance!) so she sees notes on an acct by this person and was furious, comes storming into my office cursing and waving papers...I calmly take the account #, look it up, the note was put on the account 2 years earlier! She just hates this person so much, all she saw was the month and day and the year part flew out of her brain...I laughed for a good 10 minutes! This lady is VERY high maintenance...ALL day long and I mean ALLLLLLL day she calls me up or storms into my office screeching about one thing or another...then the next morning appologizing....oye...I could easily jump up and start choking her at any given moment...We often joke that it's just a matter of time before we end up on the psyche ward and then the one guy ends up there right after the holidays, poor thing...

Cajun said: doc said I had slight inflamation and minor scaring. I  try not 2 spook myself with this...

Cajun,

I know that sounds bad ,but it's actually very good news in a relative way. Many of us here with hep c have moderate to significant scarring. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to be successful in treatment. All the best.

I did my shots on my stomach and got red spots for the entire time of 18 months. They last a couple weeks. This is injection site reaction and it does go away and did not propose a problem for me. Some shots were worse than others but mostly like a silver dollar size red spot. I know quite a few others who had the same thing happen. Not sure about the sun thing sice I wore a swim suit that covered my injection site. LL

I think your Doc didnt express things the right way, the word maybe, no that just dont do it for anxious people on tx.all that does is make you hypertoon into yourself..and you know when you do that your just going to put yourself in a big ole FUNK! Thinking for sure something is very wrong, when in truth  its prob. just the meds. I had to overnight my daughter money for college and i coulndt even fill out the slip right I messed one totally up and had to ask the man if this is right is this the right way ... I felt like a fool but still walked out with my head held high..So what if the nice mail net guy had to help out a nutty person

party time in cajun country! sounds like a plan to me! maybe we can insert a little volunteer work in NO, if they still need help? someone has a link to a group that is working hard in the rebuilding of NO. Just a thought, all party and no work...ok is reversed, but party is a go.
Is Mardi Gras happening this yr? I mean the parades? I caught the celebration for the first time back in 2004, while on tx. Did not keep me from partying. No French Quarter funny business, though. I swear. Nobody would look anyway.

I can imagine that the inside if the thigh is more sensitive than the top.  With the spots it's easy to remember where the last shot was.  After a while, one thigh was sunrise, the other sunset and so it went on...Clears up a few weeks after tx. Til then, keep it aired out, moisturized and try not to itch to much.

That has happened to me a lot but I always attributed it to advancing age, not Hep C or treatent. Like picking up a book and not realizing until twenty pages in that I've read it before. LOL. The advantage, however, is that you can read the same book and watch the same movies several times since you can't remember how they end. :)

But interestingly, on treatment, my memory has actually improved. My theory is that when my body got very sick with sides, I retreated more to living in my mind which someone stimulated things.

Studies do suggest that the more you use it, the less you lose it, so there may be some basis there. I think someone posted something recently on this and suggested playing Chess or something to exercise the brain. I would imagine Chess (which I used to play a lot) would be excellent, also certain card games, writing, problem solving, etc. At the other end of the spectrum, too many passive activities like watching TV probably have an opposite or numbing effect on the mind. In fact, there was something on TV LOL last night about stunted IQ's in very young children who watch TV a lot. The message was to keep them away from TV during the very young years.

I think a lot of it is just plain ol brain fade that comes with our years.  One benefit from tx was that it forced me to be a bit more orgnaized and efficient.  I put a few personal practices in at work to guard against inattentivness which seemed to make life easier and keep me a little more on track. I also think that some form of mental calisthenics is helpful. Playing the game Clue is good for brain aerobics

Not me, my Brother. I forget all kinds of cr*p. Whether I got gas. Where I'm driving. What day it is. I loose words mid-sentence, yada-ya. I don't watch TV, so I don't have that problem. I do read - and I can keep the story going in my head but I miss alot of the subtleties.

I hate to freak anyone out, I voiced concern to my doctor last week about the meds making me brain damaged; he said "maybe". We had friend have a stroke, now she's recovered somewhat. I display some of the symptoms she does. Having a hard time holding a conversation, not understanding what people are saying , losing a word and and filing it in with nonsense, repeating myself; I spend alot of time alone to avoid stressful situations. Alot of activity around me really makes me anxious and confused.    Peace

nygirl:  I do not know how old u are but women and age, total brain fade at a certain point. I had this happen when I started going through peri-menapause.  I am now post and was hot flash heaven until hcv treament and then it went 2 chills. Although, I still have very spaced out moments. U may want 2 check into that; just a thought.

FLguy:  I agree with U on the age thing. Since I started treatment I have forced myself 2 be more organized and structured. I guess that comes from limited time of feeling good and learning how 2 do things in that time slot.  I also read alot and crochet.  Sooo true that u either us it or lose it.

Anyone:  I have a question about the spot on the leg and the sun.  Does it irratate the spot because of the heat or the sun's rays.  I would like 2 take a Jacuzzi on the days my body is all ache and pain; but if the heat causes this 2 inflame I'll pass on that.  Anyone know.

I am game on the cajun party band wagon; but next Mardi Gras. This one is so scaled down. Not going to be the same. Although they are still going to put one on from what I hear. I hope that the profits go 2 help all the unfortunate people that had everything taken from them and not back in the politicians pockets.

Lots of Love to All,
cajunlady

Well the forgetfulness will be tons of fun for me...I'm not even on tx yet and I already have those symptoms.  I don't watch tv either but I do read(when I get the chance)  I have however on many occasions lately forgotten that I was in the middle of cooking dinner.  I'll be outside watering the plants and playing fetch with the dogs(the dogs like to see me get my exercise) and I'll hear...."hey are you cooking something?"

hahahaha....well I was cooking something but now it looks like I'm just burning it.  Well tx will be fun for me if this gets worse.  How pathetic....I love to cook too.

By the way Hello everyone I hope you all are doing well.  I've been trying to keep up with all of your progress but time is limited.

I have suddenly found myself explaining every move I make to a three year old question machine.  (I love it though)  I also have found myself explaining how it is okay to pick your nose but it is not okay to scare the old ladies in the grocery store by showing them that it is the "biggest"  : )

Next year we can all put on shorts and miniskirts and things and go out dancing to show off our lovely RibaRashes and Shot Site Injections.  People will no doubt make room for us on the dance floor as they try to figure out what is up with us.  ;-)

Don't worry about the redness it will fade in time...you will get used to little things such as this as just a part of treatment.  :)  Think of it as a badge of honor that you are killing off virus's!!!!!

It's not the normal type I used to have. I wait ALL WEEK for Lost to come on for example...I used to enjoy talking about it in DETAIL, the minutia (yeah I am one of those wierdos) and yet I can't even remember the PLOTLINES of the story barely today.

A few weeks ago I ran home because I fell asleep at the end of one of my shows that was taping on the DVR.  I turned it on and found my spot and said Oh no I saw this...I saw this too...then I advanced through next weeks PREVIEWS and I had seen that as well.

That is not normal brain stuff for me.  I mean I used to be able to REMEMBER at least WATCHING the show!

Same things with books...I pick them up with no clue what is going on in there and go oh yeah now i remember what this is.

It HAS to be some of the meds...

Is there any chance that I'm being affected by the Ambien maybe and I'm like brain sleeping before I am asleep?

Brainfog: feels kinda real to me,not ageism issue...My choice in reading materials has taken a nosedive after trx began...i had visions of  a great literary marathon while treating, instead i find myself returning books unread and really only enjoying magazine articles & sum few short storys.......this is decidely new development.....i have been playing chess-won 2 outa 3 last week!--lady luck was sitting on my lap...i still find music a great solace ,thank god........but  i figure things will normalize after i finish trx--This too will Pass, like a goofy log in the forest...

Goldyn the point is ; it is the meds. To have this kind of extreme adverse reaction on your mind, you have to wonder what are the long term ramifications.
Cajun I'm in week 28 and have found that the sun and heat, even hot showers; irritate the riba rash. When it first came on I thought I was turning into a leper(looking back it really wasn't that bad, I'm just vain), but I do notice that even taking cooler showers keeps it more at bay.    Peace
