You can do it, don't be afraid. It's like having the flu is all.
I've had RA (pos) for more than a decade so I'm used to feeling horrible and pushing myself each morning to get up and go. Takes me 2 hours to get the joints loose and moving so being on TX is no different. As a matter of fact, some days I feel better than pre-TX.
When I first came to this board many years ago, I read & asked lots of questions and cross referenced for myself. No docs wanted to treat me because of different problems I have, some to do with the virus, some not. I finally found a doc to treat, got a 2 month supply of meds stocked up (Which I advise you to do as well) because if your insurance changes pharmacies or deliveries are late or another OK on RX is needed, you will not fall behind in your weekly shot and daily Riba.
I also went to my PCP to RX me any rescue drugs I may need, Pain meds (Norco), Xanax (which is an excellent anti-anxiety & for sleep) and an AD (Lexapro) which I don't need as of yet. I don't handle AD's well. I take 1/2 xanax in am and 1/2 in PM before bed each day and night. (I am RX'd 3 per day but I only need one) Pain meds I've been on for years (different ones) and right now I don't need as much as I did pre-TX.
I've noticed that the past couple of years I do not come to this board nearly as much as I used to. It's a great source of info but it has a lot of personal opinions thrown in too. You must take those with a grain of salt and do what you feel is best for you. You will feel it in your heart, what good for you and what isn't. Studies quoted need to be read with a fine tooth comb, does it really pertain to you? Do those in the studies have exactly what symptoms and geno type as you?
Your tx is between you and your doc. But especially you. KNOW that you can clear the virus and you will have a good chance. Always think positive, there is no other way. One pill at a time, one shot at a time, one day at a time -- don't think to far ahead or it may get overwhelming. Every person is different with different sides. I hope you have an easy go of it, and remember, if one day or week you feel awful, the next you may feel better, don't get discouraged, just go with it. I feel that more pain or sides means that the shots and pills are working. (It may not mean anything but it's a head game I play with myself)
Please get a little stock pile of meds though, just in case. It'll save you a lot of anxiety later.
Good luck to you and let us know how you do :-)
(I check in here a couple of times per week & will look for your posts)

I'm about to start tx this weekend and I'm also a 1b. Your results are a comfort to me. I'm starting on 1000 of the riba and I can't remember the dosage of the pegasys they are sending for the once a week shot. I don't get the medication til friday. My viral load (about two weeks ago) was 182,000 so if you've dropped that far with my genotype it makes me very hopeful. How do you feel?
Also, SFWANDWOW, when I said docs are usually ok about prescribing phenergan, I meant regular docs. You would have to check with your hematologist which I'm sure you do anyway. Its something I use already and they didn't tell me to quit taking any of the medications I'm currently using. I am going to do what Xenigma suggested though and when I see my neurologist tomorrow I'm going to see if she'll prescribe some type of codeine without the tylenol instead of my usual lortab for when I get migraines, because I think that has tylenol in it.
have you tried getting them to prescribe phenergan for you for the nausea? I can't take any codeine based drug either without nausea, so I just take phenergan with it. Docs are usually ok about prescribing it, but you may have tried it already?
I take Norco daily (which has the same ingredient as vicodin except it only has 325 mg’s of Tylenol and 7.5 mg’s of Hydrocodone) Just eat something before you take it if it makes you nauseous.
(It does not make me sick)
Also, depending on what strength he gives you it will have a different amount of tylenol in it.
You don’t want to take more than 1-2 grams per day. I know Percocet has 325 mg’s of Tylenol with 5 mg’s of Oxycodone. Better to get a higher dose of a strong pain med and less Tylenol.
(A gram is 1000 mg.’s) I take under 1gram per day of Tylenol.
I believe Percocet also comes in one with no Tylenol and just Oxycodone which may even be better. You can always take Tylenol with it if you need a little boost in your pain relief.
A root canal is considered surgery and is not recommended on TX.
You (may) heal slower. But I’m sure you and your docs are aware of this and will go
over your labs and see if it would be OK for you.
Personally, I wouldn’t do it, but it’s an individual decision.
Good Luck to you…

PS…I know we are at the same week in TX.
We are both at week 6.
I've got a few Questions for you...
What are you taking (Which type of interferon) and how much?
How much Riba are you taking per day?
What’s your starting VL and what was your 4 week VL?
Genotype?
---My stats---
Geno-1b
Staring VL of 4,750,000
4 week VL 6020.
180 mcs Peg and 800 mg. Riba per day
Hope you are doing well and your numbers are good!...
