Hi, know what ya mean about the bruises and soreness, I have done the 48 wks one time and doing it again. for me the belly was not the spot, I did all 48 in the thigh, warm the vial like they say, pinch an inch after cleaning area and pop it in and inject SLOW then rub the area good with the swab and alternate each time, worked great for me, hope the same for you, PS I did lose a little hair around the site after about 30 wks but it came back lol but no pain or bruises

I used my stomach under the navel. start on one side then across to the other side then go down a little, and start across again. I thought I would run out of places but never did. I didn't bruise bad unless I went above my navel. I always heard not to use the thigh, unless you have a lot of meat on it. And yes, you need to let the alcohol dry cause I didn't a few times and it did burn. Take care... Debi

I also keep track of all the sites I have used.

I draw an hourglass on a piece of paper and keep it with my injection stuff. I drew a bunch of circles--2 double rows of three, above and on each side of my navel, and the same under navel. As I use them I color them in as dots. (If I was smart I would've put the date or numbered them--that way I can know where I've been and when.)

They say not to use the waist, and not to go too near the navel. And not to use the same location twice.

Well next week will be shot #10 and I'm running out of places!!! I will have to start using places real near where I've used before.

I wish I had someone to hold up my tit's--was that Lilmomma that said that? I may have to start injecting in front of a mirror.

LOL I would have that problem with the **** too. Then I would have to ask John to help and then I would be in big trouble...I would have to get my libido in gear! Another good reason to use my thigh.

I don't keep track of my sites. I switch legs sometimes, but I knew I would run out of spots so I never worried about it. When I gave my sumpatripin shots I would give myself shots in the rear. This was always fun since I couldn't see where it was going! I would run out of spots so I had to switch up. They were redipens. Those are weird.

yes that thread was started by or because of me... Your talkin about the one where Jim explains how to make a penny butter sandwitch?? That WAS hilarious....

Maybe I didn't let the alcohol dry?? There CAN'T be toooo many more ways that I can F&ck this up...

Do you allow the alcohol from the swab to dry?  I heard that the injection will sting if you don't allow it to dry....

When I used to inject sumatriptin, I gave the shots in my stomach. I seemed to always have problems or bruises, that's why I switched to the thigh.

That does really sound awkward to do it from the left if you are right handed.

Did you read the thread on how to give injections? It is a riot.

I don't know if I can explain this...

I always read the threads on injection sites, because I've had my share of trouble. About half the time I get a bruise, and still don't know what causes it to bruise or not to.

I ONLY use my belly rotating the injection sites.

This last time (Friday night) was my 9th shot. And I tried to inject twice on thr left side, going in from a right angle and felt burning so I pulled out to try another spot, again it burned so I tried on the right going in at a right angle and no pain so I injected. The places where I tried to inject and pulled out were itchy for a few hours.
I did read on this forum that some of you when feel pain at the injection site--find another place, so thats what I did.

Thinking back it must've been the angle...when injecting on the left I should probably go in from the left (not right) It's just that I'm right handed and it would be awkward. Awkward I can handle,  Pain-- not so much.

So I will try next week on the left going in from a left angle and see what happens.

After doing shots for years, I haven't had problems with bruising on tx for 15 shots. I think Mimi is correct in saying that fat helps. I do the shots in my thigh and pinch it. Sometimes if you hit a little vessel it could cause it to bruise. This has happened to me in the past when I did more shots.

I also have the runs and constipation. Not sure if it was not a bug last week. I have thought of keeping a log, but never had the energy to begin.

Hubby gets the purple bruises.  We asked several doctors what was the cause, and we been given several different answers.  What I'v found is that the more fat the better.  He gets those marks when he injects into areas that are higher on his abdomen.  If he injects the medication below the belt in the fatty area the purple marks don't occur.  When he gets them, he says they are itchy and it takes about 10 days for it to go away. AND he gets both diarrhea and constipation from the medication.  Since he started his bowels have been so messed up.

Hang in there!!!!
