KATRINA AFFECTING DELIVERY OF MY PEG-INTRON

I CALLED TO REORDER MY MONTHLY SUPPLY OF PEG-INTRON AND RIBAVIRIN TODAY, AND THEY TELL ME THE MAIN OFFICE THAT HAS MY PEG-INTRON IS IN NEW ORLEANS AND THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DELIVER IT ON TIME. I AM INTO WEEK 12 OF TREATMENT. WHAT TO DO? IS IT OKAY TO STOP TREATMENT AND WAIT FOR MY MEDS TO COME? I KNOW FOR A FACT THE PHARMACISTS HERE DON'T CARRY PEG-INTRON IN STOCK. SHOULD I JUST DO MY NEXT INJECTION ON THE DAY THE MEDS DO GET HERE? I INJECT ON SUNDAY NIGHTS AND I'M OUT OF MY MEDS WHICH MEANS THIS COMING SUNDAY I WON'T BE ABLE TO DO MY INJECTION. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF DOC TO DISCUSS, HE IS OUT OF TOWN, AGAIN. ALL OF A SUDDEN I'M SCARED. I HAD 2 SHOTS LEFT BUT WHEN I WENT TO PREPARE FOR INJECTION, I POPPED THE RED-PEN AND THEN I TRIED TO DIAL MY DOSE AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO PUT THE NEEDLE ON FIRST SO THEN MY HUSBAND FORCED IT TO DIAL. IS IT STILL OKAY TO USE THAT REDIPEN IF THE MED HAS ALREADY BEEN MIXED? I DON'T DO ANOTHER INJECTION TILL SUNDAY BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD GO AHEAD AND USE THAT REDIPEN NEXT SUNDAY IF THE MED HAS ALREADY BEEN MIXED AND SITTING IN FRIDGE FOR A WEEK. WHAT TO DO? I'M REALLY WORRIED ABOUT NOT GETTING MY NEW ORDER.

It's funny now that i think about talking to myself each week at shot time telling the dragon this shot would kill him and so on and just in case you didnt die last week you will die this week...such humor. now that i think about it  :)~

How are you doing?  I come here still reading the posts and reading about all the newbee's........

I definatly can understand your worry. While I don't know the answere to the question on the redipen. I agree with snook. I had my shipment delayed due to 911 and called the "be in charge Program" 1-888-437-2608. They were able to send me my meds from a different location. It took 2 days but I got them. Good luck to you.

fresno,i hope i didn't ruin your thread by putting that "beware" of above post on your thread. i should have done that differently...sorry.

now that they erased the bad thread it could look like i'm posting that to you, and of course i'm not.

i hope you get plenty of answers on your question and sorry that i put a stupid tag on my post.

Hey there,
Has anyone heard from Vicki?  Last i heard she was in Alaska!
I know she is from Alabama and wondering if she is near Mobile...I have been thinking about her all last week, wondering if she was near the disaster area.
If you talk with her let her know that im thinking about her..........Deb

I asked my wife about your question, as she is a nurse, but she is unsure.
You should call the Scherring, "Be in Charge" program at
1-888-437-2608.
You will be able to talk with a nurse, and get a definate answer. Some meds like that when mixed are only good for 72 hours, even with refridgeration. Powder forms, which the redipen is, have the tendancy to crystalize. Call Scherring!

I am so sorry to hear about the delay in your meds...Katrina just keeps striking people even after her winds have died...

Have you called the pharmacuetical manufacturer to ask if it will be okay to use the one you have mixed?

I was wondering how meds would be affected because of Katrina for the people in New Orleans and Mobile, guess it affects more and more all the time...

So sorry...Beth

I'd call Shearing's support line first thing in the morning and speak to a nurse. Find out if they can overnight the meds to either to you, a local pharmacy or your doctor. They also should know the answer to the mixed Redipen question.
