I dropped 20 lbs the first 3 weeks on Atkins. (low carb-high protein). After that it was much tougher.
Dude, I dropped a lot of weight before tox 3, but my BMI was still out of whack. I am 6'0" and started tox at 195 lbs. After 11 weeks I am up to 209! Not happy about it but a high fat diet on tox is the way to go. It helps ease the sx and I believe gives a better response to treatment (this is controversial though). If you can get the weight down prior to tox than you should, but I personally would not try too hard to maintain it after tox begins. Take the weight based Riba and then add 200 mg to that. (my opinion only) Titer up on the Riba 2-3 weeks prior to peg. Get the Alinia if possible. Kick it's a$$!!!
Talking about Brazilian nuts, these two crazy Brazilian guys are walking down the street. One crazy Brazilian says to the other "Look at that dog with one eye". The other Brazilian nut covers one eye and says "Where?".

Benefits of Brazil Nuts
One brazil nut a day is enough to raise the average New Zealander's selenium intake to internationally recommended levels and eating two could lead to added health benefits, new research shows.
However, Otago University researchers warn that too much of the micronutrient can be toxic and people should be careful to limit themselves to no more than a few nuts a day.
DONT EAT TOO MANY
Ironically the European Union has imposed strict regulations on the import from Brazil of Brazil nuts in their shells, as the shells have been found to contain high levels of aflatoxins, which can lead to liver cancer
Nutritionally, Brazil nuts are perhaps the richest source of selenium, containing as much as 1180% of the USRDV, although the amount of selenium varies greatly
The controversy is over certain health claims made by the cherry industry and those who sell products containing or made from cherries such as pills, capsules, and juice—and not the health benefits of cherries. While numerous scientific studies have demonstrated the health benefits of cherries, the FDA says that makers of products containing cherries cannot claim that their products prevent, treat, or cure a specific disease such as gout or cancer. The FDA says that these types of claims imply that cherries are “drugs” that cure a disease—without the backing of controlled double-blind clinical trials.

As mentioned somewhere else, one measure being used to determine a good weight is the ratio between waist and height. So again, if you're 100 inches tall, your waist should be no more than 50 inches and that means when it's relaxed and not sucked in :). Some think this is better than BMI although probably not used in the HCV studies.
AS OF RIGHT NOW I WEIGH IN AT 2O7LBS.....I WAS 215.6 MONDAY MORNING
I think you also said you ate a box of health bars? I don't know if that's healthy. But I'm not here to criticize anyone. God only knows there are no saints or angels on this board. We have all done our share of abuse.
My dad once told me "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in his shoes". I took his advice and after I got a mile away, I turned around and criticized him, but by then I had his shoes...

I just remember that you mentioned that you eat a lot of apples. I think that there is a problem with this, as by eating too much fruit, you would be consuming a lot of sugar.
Just on a thought, considering that you have a problem with the amount of foods you are eating, you should maybe look into eating foods which actually burn calories. The cabbage family is good at that.
Or eating large green salads with a simple lemon, garlic, olive oil dressing. I have an awesome recipe, if you want it. You can sprinkle your algae/kelp on the salad, too. Delicious, if you are into salads. And then you would need some good proteins. Lentils are a great source of proteins. I also have a good recipe for lentils, if you want it let me know.
I need to say that I am not an expert at weight loss, as I have never been in the situation. But that's just a few things I know about nutrition.
Wishing you all the best, my friend.
Marcia
FDA at work protecting us..fine bunch eh?
And although cosmetics are required by the Food and Drug Administration to list ingredients, no law requires products of any kind to list chemicals used in fragrances.
A bit of the fatty liver topic...but this is interesting
Nearly 100 volatile organic compounds were emitted from these six products, and none were listed on any product label. Plus, five of the six products emitted one or more carcinogenic 'hazardous air pollutants,' which are considered by the Environmental Protection Agency to have no safe exposure level," Steinemann said

You also might want to run this by your doctor and perhaps Dr. Dieterich...
