Yea and it's a *****. I have been using Nystatin and I get some relief. It's generally prescribed for thrush and though I don't have thrush this is the only thing that has helped me. Mike
Audrey had horrible mouth sores. Lots of people seem to have had a problem with them. I'm sure Audrey could write a book about everything she took to get rid of them. She would probably be the best one to talk about this question.
Three Rivers Pharmaceuticals announces FDA Approval of Ribasphere(TM) (Ribavirin capsules) 200mg for the Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C

Ask your doctor for "magic mouthwash"! They should know what it is. Requires a prescription
Acidophilus pills kept mine from getting sores. Some folks say that yogurt will help too.
Hang in there!
I found Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste helped me out : ) Mine have been pretty mild, fortunately.
I am the Audrey who had the horrible mouth sores. I have a small pharmacy, over the counter and scripts. This is a not too unusual reaction to the riba. I waited a long time to get a script - too long. By then they refused to heal. There are two pills that are just for this - one is called "famvir" and the other I do not know the name of, but it has the same properties. Some people will heal fronm these meds and some will need to be on a maintanence dose throughout tx. Call your doc tomorrow. This side is a *****. They had to take me off the riba for a week to even begin to heal, and I never did get up to the same dosage again.
I also got 3 or 4 kinds of mouthwash, peroxide, all biotene products ... oralgel, anbusol , you name it I got it. The only real relief I got was liquid lidocaine, and that just numbed it for a bit.
Yogurt, ice cream, drink thru a straw, cream soups, nothing acidic or harsh on the tongue, you can try all of this.
Good luck- this is horrible, I know.
