Latest Hep C Treatment Guidelines for Tx Naive, Relapsers, and Non-responders

The latest treatment recommendations for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection are now available on HCVguidelines.org, the result of a collaboration between the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and the International Antiviral Society-USA.

amino acid variants -genetic variations associated with human disease
In those that didn't achieve SVR the early drugs like INF and some of the newer ones.caused genetic variations that were more resistant to re-treatment with them.   That's another reason why sofosbuvir is good.

Thanks for posting this.

It's great to have this information.  As a Genotype 2, I anticipate there may be blowback from my insurance to go with the more expensive regime but it's good to know I have this info as security.

One question:  can you explain this statement, "Among patients who did not achieve SVR, sofosbuvir resistance-associated amino acid variants were not detected."  What are amino acid variants?
