blood transmission

Hello
I have a questions concerning Hepatitis C. Do both people need to have open bleeding cuts for there to be any risk of transmission? How much blood would be required for transmission?

I assume small cracks on the skin of people do not create a measurable risk?

My exposure was from a handjob, after I noticed that I had a small crack on my penis (no blood)-i do not know if the girl had any cracks on her hands...
Thanks for your help!

Just curious paranoid......does the crack on your penis hurt?  I would get that looked at.

I don't think you offended anyone. We have just gotten a bunch of exposure questions lately that are way over the edge. It is obvious that there was no research done before coming to this site, and we do get tired of saying the same thing over and over. Just remember, it has to be blood to blood... the infected person's blood has to get inside of your blood stream and flow through your veins, not just sit on a scab on your skin.

I didn't meant to offend anyone--I was just a bit worried.

Thank you for your replies.

It is the blood from an infected person getting into the bloodstream of another person.

Cracks in the skin and cracks on someone elses skin  woukd pretty much assure  about six billion of us would be infected.

You would be far better off doing some research on the transmission of HCV than posting such an inane guestion here.

I would like to recommend that everyone who wonders about their risk of contracting hepc just get tested.  Be it from hand jobs, to barber shops to cigarettes to light switches to hand shakes.  There are dangers lurking in every corner and you can't ever be too careful.

And you know what the best part is?  If you wait several weeks after you think you may have been exposed you can get a HCV RNA by PCR which will detect the active virus in your blood as opposed to waiting 3-6 months for an antibody test.  Isn't that grand, no waiting, no anxiety, kinda like one stop shopping.
