Liver Test (ALT)

My husband had a liver test (ALT) recently with a reading of 47U/L. Is this an indication of liver disease?

my ALT's were 45 and the hepatologist said that was a normal reading.  I'd like it to be lower, but I have to listen to the guy who has the xperience, liver transplantation hepatologist along with the provider for Standard Treatment of Care.   So not bad, would be interesting to recheck at some point, My doc said see you next year if you so choose, and since I"m a 1 along w/ stage 1 biopsy,  I'm waiting for now.. good luck,, M4now

no it is not. it could just mean that he was drinking alcohol the night before or even some meds may raise the ALT, i.e. tylanol, etc. Besides it is not that elevated.  I would test again in a few weeks making sure not to drink or take meds the week before blood draw. Best of luck
