HOnestly if you are that sick I don't see any reason to start until it clears up. There isn't that big a rush really and treatment goes on for a LONG time.
But of course you have to realize that you will get sick and get infections and stuff while you are on treatment, you know?
Still...I think if you are that ill there really is no reason you can't put off starting for a week. Not at all.
I agree with NY girl. If you are already ill maybe you should wait until you have the sinus infection cleared up to start treatment. Your reaction to the tx is yet unknown. You are already feeling lousy and questioning wether or not to even start tx. On the right antibiotic your sinus infection should clear and you will feel so much better. You will then be able to start tx with a more positive attitude. Just my opinion Hope you feel better soon.
Definitely 100% wait until your sinuses are all clear and confirmed by a good ENT (ear, nose throat)doctor. In fact, depending on what your doctor sees, he may want to do an MRI or Cat Scan (forgot which one they use for the sinuses) to make sure you're ready to go. Like others, I had sinus issues from the treatment drugs and ended up on antibiotics for a number of months. Can't even imagine how bad it would have been if I started off with a major sinus infection. Of course, run this all by the ENT, the only problem being that the ENT's I saw had very little (if any) knowledge about the treatment drugs and how they could effect the sinuses. You've probably had HCV for ** years and a few weeks or possibly months wait shouldn't make a whole lot of difference anyway.
All the best,

Hi Rick. Sorry about the sinus infx and the slumpy feeling about treatment. Has your GI doc said anything about this delaying treatment? I'm not familiar enough with sinus infx to know if could be a bigger badder problem if you start treatment. I would think any ongoing infection would need to be taken care of before starting treatment. My GI doc will require me to be infection-free and cleared by my peridontist before I start because I have a history of infections. I've been told if signs of infx start after I begin treatment, the dose will be reduced or stopped to get the infection treated (invasive procedure.) If sinus infections have always plagued you, or if they cause you great pain and you frequently have to go on antibiotics to clear them, talk to your GI doc about how this might affect your treatment plan. That might ease some of your worry (?) If you know what their plan is and that all of them are on the same page, it might help you feel beter now. It's good to know how the docs will plan on dealing with it or IF they think it might be something they will need to take special interventions on during your treatment. Best of luck. Hang in there.
Being in a flight crew, is this common for you? If yes, and you intend on seeing a specialist (ENT) maybe they have some preventative solutions too.
Rick: You are looking around too much! Try to look up!
So true about dr's. Makes you feel pretty insignificant when it takes so long to get help. Did he give you anything to help the congestion? Antibiotics alone won't relieve the symptoms of sinus pressure. I think you just have to wait and see about starting tx. You have till the 23rd to decide. I put it off several times and I feel like whatever happens, it happened for a reason and when I started the time was right for me. I had a cold and fever back in Dec and thought the same thing. 'If this is like tx I don't think I can handle it.' When I was nauseous from time to time I would think 'If this is how it feels on tx I don't think I can handle it' Now I AM treating and ya know--I can handle this. This is for a purpose. This is doable. I'm not saying start, just saying don't worry, it will all be OK! I promise.

I would wait until your sinus condition clears up. Sometimes your WBC goes down so it is harder to throw off those bugs.
Might as well start on a healthy note. Good luck!
