Good news! :) YAY!
Don't worry...the Procrit WILL kick in and you WILL feel better soon. It does feel like it takes forever though. It's a shame that it's not FAST acting like the Neupogen but.....it has a very big job to do and it takes time.
Big drop and a good drop. I know this is a good sign for you. Sorry about you feeling bad but the Procrit will pull you through. Lot of folks in here using the stuff. Chin up, keep the smile going we need all those we can get. Dale
Great news.
Give Procrit time, it can take anywhere from 2-6 wks according to their PI. For me it's about 3 wks, but showing some signs of improvement by wk 2.
Congratulations! I hope to join you soon.
Good news! I'm real happy for you! :)
Good news!!! I am happy for you and let me know when you are feeling better so we can plan a get together.
My 18 year old son Eric starts Friday!!! He told me he is the guinea pig (I will see him cured before I start!!!!! He is disabled so I will have to administer the shot. Do you all think it is a good idea to give him Tylenol with it? And what is the best time for the shot? Bed time??? Or a little before?????
Way to go! that is great news. It helps to deal with tx too knowing you are kicking some viral bootie. Congrats.
YAY for Eric!
If it were MY kid this is what I would do.
Tylenol with the shot. 2 for sure. Try and beat down the fever before it comes. Two tylenol will NOT hurt the liver.
Most people it seems from reading have their "shot effect" at least four hours or so after doing the shot. So I take my shot at 6:00pm EVERY single week. Then about 9pm I take a sleeping pill and give it an hour to kick in. That way I try to sleep through a good chunk of it if I can.
It's worked out very well. If God forbid I had to be strong as you and help my kid through it...I would mirror that course because I am a big BABY and really used a lot of thought on how to make it the easiest.
Of COURSE it's different for EVERYONE so you will find your own groove...but that seems pretty much the medium of things.
I hope someone has better advice than I do!
It's so GREAT to see you again!
As you can see it's been silent because I'm just wiped with the anemia but keep emailing - good luck with Eric - have him take the tylenol - after the first week I had insomnia and they gave me something for that too - whatever it takes - it seems to be going in the right direction for me. Hope all the best -call if you need to anytime. Kyle
I'm in the VX950 trial, which is triple tx - interferon & ribovirin same as standard of care, plus VX950.
Clinic's recommendation was to pre-dose with 500mG Tylenol 30 minutes before the shot, and it seemed to help quite a bit. They also say that up to 2000mG per 24 hours is OK if required to help with sides.
The range of experiences with sides varies widely, so its hard to predict what your boy will see. No question that the first few shots are the toughest. FWIW, it took around six hours for the sides to hit when I took my first shot.
Tell your boy he is in great company, with a bunch of fellow travellers who are ready to help him through the unknowns and the scary bits.
you and i have the same stats, but i didnt get a pcr till 12 weeks when it showed clear, i wish i could have had a 4 week like you man your doing great , once your hemo kicks in you going to feel so good great job.......
When you guys went on procrit did you have this freezing cold feeling in your back and other parts of your body and I have unreal heartburn and aftertaste in my mouth
