Medication costs

Does anyone know where I can get help to pay for meds.  After insurance it's still going to cost me an average of $500.00/month.  Pharmacutical companies have turned me down.  Have to delay treatment because I don't have the funds.  HELP???

Where's the "help"  for the poor working stiffs?  The ones who work their butts off and still can't afford the necessary medications or treatments that they or their families need.  Where's Superman when you need him?

Yes..I know.
Seems to me though that the U.S., Canada and European countries have this available more than other countries?

"I am surprised that the ones who make the hcv treatments won't give you a break since they have a free program for those that cannot afford it at all."

---Somebody should tell the Egyptians this. (18% of all Egyptians have HCV)

Hello...lurker and rare poster here.

i am wondering because I am ignorant of pharmy companies policies when it comes to, if one has insurance...and not everyone with insurance can afford insurance with a low to no deductable.
Maybe you don't fit into the financial categories? Guessing that's it.
The typical falling through the cracks.

Aren't there organizations that help people in situations such as yours?

Have you looked into clinical trials? I haven't checked for a while so don't know if any are open for you.
Search clinicaltrials.gov, i believe it is and type in on the site, hepatitis c.
The trials normally do not allow 'rescue' drugs...for low bloodcounts and so on.
From what I have heard though, if one gets into the trials, patients are monitored more than most....since it is a trial...and no rescue drugs that will affect their reports.
There have been trials for the combos with the new protease inhibitors as well and maybe there are more or to come.
That may be a way if they are available..and you can get in.
Bestwishes to you.

You can call the manufacturers at the following numbers; they provide patient assistance to those that can’t afford them, provided they fit the income parameters:

Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797

Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157

This is very awkward, and it proves again how important it is to have proper medical insurance. It is extremely sad that the majority of this world's almost 200 million HCV infected people cannot afford treatment.
