Got my bloodwork back. My Neutrophills are normal now. Just had to do the Neupogen twice a week for two weeks. I do TX #8 tongiht. Next bloodwork will be done end of next week. As long as my counts stay normal I will not have to do more neupogen. I'll post results later.
I was on the neuprogen shots every week starting at week 5 until I finished at week 48. It would raise my wbc from approx 1.3 to 10-13 but would go right down again by the next week. My Dr. lowered my dose of interferon also for the whole time of tx and now after 3 months of being off tx I found out I'm not negitive anymore. The dragon is back and I'm wondering if it was because my dr lowered my dosage. I would be willing to take 2 or 3 neuprogen shots a week if it meant I could get rid of the dragon.
Also the blood Dr I was going to for the neuprogen shots prescribed loratab for the pain from the shots.
Best of luck with the few remaining.
In HIS Hands,
Linda
I had to do neupogen twice a week half cc on Monday and Weds. then Pegasys on Friday. I did not enjoy the flu and fever the neupogen brought on. I should find out today if it did any good. Last Monday was my last shot of neup. My GI wants to wait and see if just this type of booster will do the trick so I don't have to do it the entire time of TX.
lvlady- My most heartfelt sympathies go out to you. Were you taking PegIntron and Ribavirin or non-pegalated interferon? What dosages? At what point did you clear the virus?
As much as I suggested to my doctor that perhaps I was getting too much pegasys or riba, he refused to lower the dose. He's had similar things happen to other patients.
The joy of being close to the end is always tempered by the fears of the virus coming back. Sobering thoughts.....
OkieJim- I think that what lvlady said about the Neupogen having such a short term effect is true. I hope you are able to stay off of it and feel better.
I'm hoping the ribavirin protects us from viruses like colds, coughs and flu, so am mostly worried about bacterial infections or food poisoning. Don't know if there's any truth to that theory, so I'm trying to visualize abundant white blood cells too. Ha Ha
Maj Neni- 13! Yep, it feels good, don't it? The date of my last pill is on 12/31. Might do a teeny bit of celebrating that night! Maybe........!!
Hang in there everybody!
A while ago, probably back in late June maybe early July you posted an essay on the English Language and word usage. Do you have any recall, barring all brain fog, of the passage or the examples? there was some humor in it as I recall, I would love to send it to someone who is studying the origin of the English language. Thank you, sorry for busting in on this thread. By the way..good song!
I'm riding the Procrit and the Neupogen train, and the low CBC's, but at least I've been able to stay on the tx. I think these meds contribute to bone pain. Enuf said.
Wow, 10 little bottles! I have 13 left, I'm right on your heels. Great song. Let's finish with a bang!
