Seen doctor today....

Seen the doctor today. She really didnt have much to say other than I need to see a specialist. She scheduled an appointment with
someone in W.Senaca,ny.A Dr.Wells in september. She is recomending a biopsy of my liver and also something else(forgot the name of the test)Its where they stick a scope down your throat. This is because I have been having trouble keeping down solid foods. Also I have been having discomfort in my side.Is this normal? If so what else should i expect.I also have a follow up with her the week after my appointment with the specialist. Thanks Again for Everthing.

Sounds like your doc is doing the right things.  I'm guessing the scope thing is for an endoscopy to see if there is a gastro problem you need to address.  The side thing could be HCV related if it's on your right side.

I don't recall if you had a genotype classification and viral load test run, but you could expect that as well.  These with the biopsy to establish grade and stage will help decide if immediate tx is necessary or not.

Welcome and that side thing sounds like Hepc.  Once you get all your tests back you'll be able to decide what's best for you.  However, when you get your viral load tested it usually includes the geno type.  Most drs test for both at the same time.  Is it possibly that on one of your test results it does show your geno type?

Glad you are going to a specialist.  You will get good care that way.  Join the wait club.  It took me almost 3 months to get all the stuff in order to start tx.   Will Start the end of Sept my choice this time.  Good luck and let us  know how your tests go.

Good luck with the specialist, and the endoscopy.
Hopefully I will start my treatment on the 28th of this month.

I am just 90 miles south of you in PA, But would my ins let me go to buffalo? NOOOO I have to go clear to pittsburgh, 4 hrs away.  But it is worth it, I really like mine and he will let me do the bulk of my testing here so I won;t have to travel that often.
