I'm always surprised when people say they have liver pain simply because even when I was very sick with cirrhosis, I never felt pain in my liver area.
The liver has no nerve endings but it can radiate pain.
It is much more likely that you have either digestive problems or perhaps it's even your pancreas ?
If you're not happy with your doctor, find a new one.
BTW: Viral loads fluctuate and the number has nothing whatsoever to do with if there is any damage to your liver.
Biopsy is much more accurate at assessing liver damage a ct scan will only pic up on cirrhosis but it might not be a bad idea to rule out any other problems that might be responsible for the pain
I've had hepc for ten or more years earlier than when I was diagnosed in 2000 I had a biopsy but was told "i had scarring" but not ready for treatment come back in 5 years, 12 years later. I just asked my gp to refer me and they sent me a referral for June 2013. Is there a blood test the gp can do that is giving you numbers to work with?
Good point have had pancreas problems in past. You are right need to find new one. Think I will get on that today
Don'tknow what numbers you mean. There are viral load numbers that measure the virus in your blood. Everyone says these numbers flucuate and do not really mean much as for as liver damage etc....
My liver has been hurting of 10 years or more. I was diagnosed 13 years ago. I have only undergone one TX 10 years ago.
When I initially told my Dr. that my liver hurt, he told me I was crazy, "Your liver cant hurt" He later told me when I complained enough that "Oh yeah, you can get pain with Hep C." I can't believe some Dr's, its like,,,tell me 2 different things at 2 diff visits.
It's the lining of the liver & nerves in the lining I'm sure. Some of us with this must get this. I have tender lymph nodes as well.
I don't think everyone gets pain. I know that my last biopsy I was told that my liver looked healthy! So talk about confused. But it has been many years since my last Biopsy & I need to get another. I'm like 57 & my livers been through WW3.lol idk
Idk I'm just sayin that I have Hep C & I also have the nagging pain you are talking about. Your liver is the largest organ in your body & apparently it does not have to be a severely swollen liver to 'hurt'.
just sayin
Yeah I too have been told different thing by same Dr. I don't know I'm sure thy get all kinds.
I'm trying to decide whether or not to get take tx at this time. I don't know how long i've had it. I've had one biopsy and they said I shouldnt' wait any longer than six months to treat. I am stage 2 on Ishak scale, 38yrs old and really no other med probs at this current time.
