Post Tx Skin Rash

Greetings, I finished my Tx six weeks ago (Peg & Riba). During Tx I needed to use lotions for a skin rash on my neck, chest area. My doctor said it was due to the meds, and from what I read here it is common. Does anyone have or heard of this post tx? If so does it take awhile to clear up? Thanks...Rich

Hi Everyone
I am new here. I completed a year of hell undergoing the Peg-Interferon thereapy.
Got almost ALL of the side effects-fatique, loss of sex drive, hair loss, numbness, loss of breath, joint pain, and the horrible rashes. I would scratch myself to bleeding.

Anyway, after a year, the treatment was unsuccesful. I still have the virus.

It is now 2 years since I have completed the therapy, and I am still breaking out with the sores and the rash. Primarily on my calves, arms, and behind my shoulders. My Doctor said he never heard of it. What a lying mother-f**** he is. Also, my thyroid is still out of whack.

I think that they should make you aware that the side effects can continue even after the med is discontinued. If they told me at the time, I would not have undergone the treatment. I felt fine when I was diagnosed, but had gotten married and figured if I could rid my system of it, I'd give it a shot. What a fool "I" was.

Anyone else still showing bad side effects after 2 years? Any cures known? I stopped going to the Dr when he said it didn't work and if it didn't work, there was nothing I could do. I DO have my blood tested every 6 months, and all is still the same.

I wish I never heard of Interferon.

I'm still dealing with it at 3mos post tx. mostly on neck, lower jaw and chest. Nightime is the big problem, but my dr is faxing a 'prescription' that I need to see someone at a hospital dermatology clinic not too far from me. why they are calling it a prescriptionrather than a referral has something to do with the insurance. Probably hear in the next few days if they'll take me.
Be well,
Don

I also had a rash on neck and chest. Neck rash started around mid treatment and chest rash started near end of treatment. Got various diagnoses, but the bottom line is that they both resolved around 4-6 months post treatment. I was on various skin meds during that time including topical steroids, Elidel, anti fungals and topical antibiotics. Have no idea which if any helped the rash. Probably time was the best healer but by all means see a good dermatologist if they are bothering you. Meanwhile, you might want to swith from soap to something milder like Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. Also, a lot of the OTC products, including moisturizes, do more harm than good. Just too many perfumes, irritants, etc.

All the best,

-- Jim
