Hi Darla,
Being tired and not feeling well should be expected on your first shot. I had a fever of 103 about 6 hours after my first shot.
Since then I take my shot around 6pm and take Tylenol when I go to bed. That way I sleep through most of the symptoms.
Try not yo take Tylenol after the first day because your body will build up a tolerance to it. Move to Bufferin or better yet just tough it out so you can benefit from the Tylenol when you really need it.
As far as the injection site is concerned here is what I've found:
Choose a fatty area, make sure the needle goes all the way in and always wait for 5 or 6 seconds after the plunger is fully depressed before removing the needle. I found it really hard to stick myself at first but you can't be timid. Now that I've injected myself 7 times I know that the needle does not hurt so it's getting easier.
Areas with less fat tend to have a more severe reaction. I have very little fat on my thigh so when I inject there I get a pretty nasty red spot about 3 days latter which is at it's worst around a week later then gradually disappears. My belly and "love handles" clears up much faster.
Best of luck to you!
Hi, this is most likely normal, I get the same thing when injecting in my stomach sometimes. You're essentially injecting directly into fatty tissue, so there is nowhere really for the liquid to go, so some of it can come back out. Should be no problem.
I wouldn't worry about a little mishap a very little bit, a drop can look huge when you expected all to stay in.
be careful next time that you have pushed the syringe in all the way, that you stop pinching your thigh and let the skin relax, and that you pull it out quickly in one straight motion back out.
best of everything in your tx....hope all goes well.
one common occurance is for newbies to not have the needle firmly on the syringe, in which case meds will leak out..
this happens as you pull the cap off. Be very careful to have the heedle firmly on the syringe, and then pull the cap off and RECHACK to make sure the needle is still firmly on the glass after the cap is off.....then let out the air and proceed.

This is something that happened to me also, I would call my doctor in the morning to see if they want you to take another shot or not. It can wait until morning. You might have hit a blood vessel. Talk with your doctor if they want you to take another shot, they will tell you how to replace with your pharmacy.... I believe. It did not make me sick.
