I just re-read your post and I think you are asking if the pharmacy is given your entire dosage by the pharm co - Gilead
The answer to that is yes. They need to do that because they would not want to run out after your treatment were approved
they just dole it out to patients a few weeks at a time
Oh and I got a 2 weeks supply every 2 weeks until EOT.
Are you doing Solvadi alone or with another Med? It's known that Solvadi needs to be in a combo.
I only receive 2 weeks at a time of Harvoni
Primarily (I think) because the medication is very expensive and if for some reason one had to stop treatment, your insurance company would not want you to have $ 189,000 worth of pills laying around that no one else could use
My pharmacy is also very strict about the pickup - sign here, and here and here, show ID, etc
Makes me laugh sometimes. Like, I'm going to go down to Haight Street and say, pssstt, wanna buy some Harvoni?
Especially with the Ribavirin - psstt, wanna buy some expensive pills that are guaranteed to make you feel lousy?
Still, I like to be able to pick my scripts. Last go round with Sovaldi/Olysio, the meds were delivered by FedEx and I had to make certain I was there to sign for them. I established a good friendship with my Fed Ex driver who would text me that he was running late and knew ho important the medication was to me
I think that it depends on where you live as well. If you live in a remote place, then, yeah, maybe they would give you the whole thing to avoid any missteps that would result in your missing a dose
Good luck on your treatment!
Thank you for the wish of blessings. I feel grateful this drug is available to me and that the liver folks at Duke are making it as eady as possible.
Welcome to the Forum, Alex,
Good question. i do not have a definitive answer for you but We have a number of knowledgeable people on here, who, I believe, are really familiar with how that works, so I expect you will get an answer soon. If not, you can call your Specialty Pharmacy and ask.
Good luck in your treatment and get that DRAGON!!!
Blessings,
Pat
