post treatment sides

I am nearly 6 months post treatment.  The side effects come and go.....some a lot worse than during treatment.  I drove to Denver to see a Dr. ...supposedly one of the best.  He is part of a giant study group at thte university, and was terribly disappointed that I had not relapsed.  He told me that the side effects last another year, and to loose 50  pounds and get a personal trainer.  What a saint.  My endrocrine system is shot, so is my GI track.  I still am tired and have brain fog.  I gained weight druing treatment, and can eat less than ever, or I gain weight.  I have had to cancel short trips due to my need to remain close to the bathroom.  When does this end?????   I have already b een through 48 weeks of hell.

hi, sorry you are going through this. not sure if i understand, did you clear the virus? are you SVR? why would the doc be dissapointed that you did NOT relapse? if that is the case he should be hung by the $%#^*  like the other post said maybe go to another hepatologist that cares about patients not studies that line his pocket with $$$ from the drug compaines. i have read on this and other forums that it could take a long time to feel normal again, sometimes even years. hope you feel better soon

Thank you for your comments.  I have been excercising for a month.  Some days I can, and others, I cannot.  I guess that this can be a life sentence of sorts.  After such a long treatment, I suppose that I thought that I would feel better.

Unfortunately there are no guarantees that the treatment will work and with a list of sides as long as  a Paso's tail, its a wonder anyone gets through it unscathed. Or do they?

Is there another specialist you can see? It sounds like the one you saw was only interested in his narrow field of study.

I do think any kind of slow and easy exercise will help. Try yoga or meditation. I wish I could give you more words of support. I'm just 6 weeks post, feeling better but I still have some sides that come and go, also.
     Good luck,                                                 OH
