as others have said this can vary alot and there is no real rhyme or reason why some have more of certain side effects and less of others. if u read my journal i believe i was pretty classic in all areas. as a geno 2, i treated for 6 mos and had the range of sx but none so bad i had to take any extreme measures. at 64 yrs i expected worse. my advice hope for the best and plan for the worst. wishing u an ez and successful tx. u already have good luck to be geno 2. best, babs824

Hi. I'm pretty sure that geno 2 is easier to treat than geno 1.. geno 1 is the hardest to treat...at least you've got that going for you already....and with new new meds giving us the 80% instead of what it use to be the 50% chance of curing it.... we're headed in the right direction.. good luck.

I am geno 2 and doing tx.

At first I had trouble sleeping but by changing my second dose of ribavarin to earlier in the day, I'm now sleeping fine.

Side effects vary. In general, the flu-like symptoms are what most people experience.
Side effects ebb and flow so remember if you feel bad, it won't last.

You will be doing regular labs to check your progress.
Good luck,
OH

Louie is correct   about the drug protocol and time to treat. G2 has an approx. 80 % success rate and as far as what to expect  on treatment,it seems everyone reacts differently . On the combo of PEG/Riba  many  only have mild flu like symptoms and others more severe reactions. There really is no way to know to you start...
Good luck...

Incivek is not approved for Gen2 which Butch has, but the standard treatment for Gen2 is 24 weeks even without the incivek.

If you are only expecting to treat for 6 months, are you also taking incivek or victrelis?

I am a Gen2 and have been on the Peg/Riba for almost 4 weeks. So far have not had much trouble except that the meds keep me awake when trying to sleep. My doc and others say that people who have alot of liver damage to start with have the worst side effects. I had mild damage and mild sides (so far). Hope it will be the same for you.
