Stomach problems

I have been off tx for about a year now, i was on a phase III trial for virimadine w/peg from 10/04 until 4/05 dropped for non-response, about half way thru tx i developed annoying stomach trouble, mostly churning & upset and diarrea for like a month, they never determined if it was from the tx or what...

i am still having stomach problems and it seems to be getting more frequent, at least 3 weeks out of the month i have either upset stomach & nausea or constipation & gas...just wondering if this is left over from tx or progression of the hep...

i am genotype undetermined/unknown, first (and last) biop was done in June 2004 and showed stage 2/grade 2 damage...

I know what you mean.  I never know if I am sick bc I caught a cold or if I'm sick bc of the treatment.  It's funny you mentioned that bc I was going to post about it one day.

Hang in there and don't be scared to ask your doc for zofran if you need it.  It is not a narcotic and it shouldn't be an issue to prescribe.

yea i took immodium on tx never heard of that other drug...

feeling better today, i think alot of my problem is my monthly friend..  i said 3 weeks out of the month because i feel like s--t the week before, the week during and sometimes the week after, nausea, back ache, etc, some months are worse than others... i had the gi doc check me out and everything looks ok, had a colonscopy last July, he just did more blood work last week have not heard anything so no news is good news... i am seriously thinking about getting another biop this June just to see if the hep is progressing..

my diet is good, no fried foods, fast foods, etc i eat pretty healthy, drink alot of water, etc. i tried the yogurt thing and it made my stomach problems worse...i do take Milk thistle everyday too, have been for like 2 years and never had a problem with it...

I think i just tend to think every time i dont feel 100% it's related to the hep...

I'm on NM283 and I take zofran for nausea and Immodium for diarrhea.  Zofran is a miracle drug.  You should ask your doctor for it.

Did you take a lot of antibiotics or acid reducers on treatment?

Even if not it's possible you need to replace the good bacteria. Eating yogurt and cutting down on some simple carbs might help in this regard. You could also have a good old fashioned stomach bug or parasite.

If I had something like that 3 out of 4 weeks every month I'd head over to my gastro and have some tests run. H. pylori bacteria may also be a factor and again your gastro can run tests.
