Interferon tx in the 80's

I was diagnosed with Hep C in the 80's, when they only used interferon for 6 months. I made it through 5, and due to depression, stopped it.  My liver enzymes were down, and have stayed down.  15 years later I was being tx'd by an inf. disease doc for an injury, and in her testing said the virus was almost non-existant.  I still deal with alot sx that seem linked to Hep C.  Anyone out there with info?  Sounds like you are all being tx now, and I would like to talk with people who have already been through it, and are doing "o-kay".     God bless you all through your fight...

I've only been post tx. for almost 3 months now. I would contact a liver doctor and have some tests done. I agree on a biopsy. That will tell the truth. Best Wishes and please keep us posted. Prayers , Cindee

Have you had a biopsy? That's really the only way to tell the state of your liver.
I have "been through it" and am OK, indeed more than OK. I didn't find the interferon treatment (Pegasys) as bad as I had been led to believe. My blood counts were fine, I didn't get depressed or lose my appetite. I believe the old interferon was much harder to handle. Do you feel physically and mentally strong? I did, and that's why I went for it. I think most of us have an inkling as to whether or not we'll be the ones that suffer a lot or not. Just my opinion.
