Symptoms

i know that there are relatively no symptoms to indicate you have hep-c but... are there any symptoms or medical problems if the disease is progressing???

had a biop about 2 years ago and it indicated stage 2/grade 2, treated with virimadine & peg on a 6 month trial which i have been off for over a year now, it didnt work...

sometimes i feel like every little minor medical ache, pain, or problem is related to the hep... i have no other known medical problems, dont go to the dr's very often but my g.i. doc did blood work recently and everything is normal except of course for the hep...

It might not just be in your head.  Look at http://janis7hepc.com/, then for Symptoms of HCV.  This disease can have effects beyond just your liver. The balancing act we all play is what to do about it all, taking into consideration a multitude of factors including quality of life and some of the non-liver aspects. Due to liver damage, I was compelled to tx and then relapsed. Going into tx I had insulin-required diabetes that was resolved with tx.  As the untreated disease progresses, usually slowly, there can be increasing impacts to your health as a whole some of which could be assocaited with advancing age too. So, if you are waitng for the right time to tx keep in mind that it may be more than a stage/grade/vl/geno decision.  It may be a good idea to see a doc who will take a look at you beyond enzymes and liver functions and get an assessment of your health overall.  I'm not saying that hcv causes everything that ails us but it may have more to do with health than we think.

Hi Pam.  All is well. Just made a decision to take a day off on Friday and do a long weekend at the beach - gonna throw some cares and woes into the surf and hope they'll float away. No complaints these days.  A bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work.

I had NO symptoms EVER and am a Stage 3.  So I guess it really doesn't matter if you have them at all or NOT - you can still have advanced liver disease.

Since your bx was so long ago I'd advise another before treatment so you know where you honestly stand.

The beach is nice and relaxing.  We are renting a beach house on Oak Island the first week of August.  I am excited about it. We can even take the three dogs. I'm letting my daughter take a friend, too.
I go to the specialist tomorrow.  It's my second appointment with him.  I will find out my viral load and stuff.  I hope he schedules my biopsy. I am ready to do it.  I want to wait though to start treatment after my beach trip.
Do you go to Miami Beach?

As you've read here, the bx isn't that bad but everyone has concerns going into it. just another thing to get through, if it's required by the doc. It's great that you are gathering information to make an informed decision when it comes to tx or not. We don't go to Miami Beach - we have a teen who is not ready for that scene, we go a little farther north where we can take our dogs too.

My brother got married in Coral Gables seven years ago, and my husband, daughter and I went to South Beach.  We ate and then decided to walk out on the beach.  We didn't realize it was topless.  My daughter was 5 at the time, and she looked at my husband and said "daddy, why don't those girls have tops on."  LOL!!!

The beach sounds wonderful.  I wish it was not so far away.
You two enjoy the time.
