Teeth problems~therapy related?

SJL
After having had 2 broken crowns earlier on during treatment, I went for my semi-annual cleaning today and had the schock of my life. Their are 4 more which have to be re-done! Also, my Dentist says, after looking at a full set of x-rays, that their is more trouble he forsees down the line.I will need gum treatment prior to crown repairs. He feels that the terribly dry mouth which I had constantly through my 3 rds. of interferon,( and still do have) was mainly the culprit. My bone structure is barely covered by a thin layer of skin. This has all transpired since my last round of treatment, just as the Cryoglobulemia and Neuropathy. Are these invasive toxic treatments worth everything that follows?
My quality of life has been non=existant for 5 yrs.I have done 1 rd. of Rituxin recently, and I am considering calling it quits, but thinking hard about alternatives and infra-red therapy? Has anyone else had dental problems? Also, to anyone who uses alternatives, would you be so kind as to share your info with me. As you can see, my insomnia is so bad that I average 4-5 hrs. per night, with a sleeping aid. last night I slept from 12 pm to 4 am.It's wearing me down as I can't sleep during the day either.

I pray daily for that magic bullet which will eliminate all the traumatic pain and suffering that we all are experiencing. Don't give up your faith this will happen.

I hope everyone has a good or even better day, today.

I have been going through this also,  But it is not the tx, it is the saliva from the liver, The toxins and bile, there was an article my dentist pulled up for me,
I will see if I can find it,
It can be bad, that is what happens to me also!  Every Dentist visit adds something new to be replaced or fixed,

He and I were both really bewildered, because I floss, brush take good care of my teeth!

This tx and disease do just attack everything.

Teevee I can so relate!

I started tx on June 15, 07.  When I went to my dentist for a routine cleaning after 4 mos. of tx they asked me was i on some sort of medication because i had a dry mouth.  They sold me some expensive toothepaste and told me to buy a mouthwash made by Crest.  I later learned from this forum to use Biotene Mouthwash and Toothepaste which I do daily.  It has seemed to help.  I feel like I am being pro-active by using the Biotene, drinking as much water as possible and flossing.  I hope when I go to my next appt that they too see an improvement.

This is my second time on tx but really i don't consider the first time as it only lasted 3 wks.  After reading about all of the relapsers on this forum and how many yrs people have committed to tx etc. I have decided to NOT take tx ever again if I am to relapse.  My Doctor told me recently that 50 percent are cured and that relapsers are included in that count.  So, if 25 percent relapse than the REAL percentage rate to a cure is ONLY 25 percent.  I am not going to ruin my life being a guinea pig.

This is just my opinion.  I have been on tx for 8 mos and this has been a particularly bad week.  I have felt horrible every day and it has been especially rough on me.  I know that it will pass.

I broke a few teeth during treatment and my cavities that I had all turned into root canals.  It was just astonishing the way my teeth really did fall apart.  I do believe that it had a lot to do with the dry mouth problem..........which I never found anything to relieve. Then the dry mouth lead to the tongue sores.......and then all the teeth problems (I've always had bad teeth though).

It's just a mess.

I've in week 20 of treatment and all my teeth ache.  I too have an incredibly dry mouth just about all the time now.  At first it was just the days following the shot.  Another thing we have in common is the crowns.  It scares me but I'm thinking is that those of us who have had extensive dental work done might be in for some rude awakenings during treatment.  Is there anybody who feels they have found a way to combat the dry mouth?  I hydrate all night long but I dry out within the hour and it's wreaking havoc with sleep.

Hi, Sandy.  Glad to see that you're able to get back on here.  I wish you didn't have so many post treatment problems, you poor thing!  You have really suffered.  I'm surprised that I haven't had as many issues post treatment as you've had, with all the TX's that I've done.  Do you feel that part of it could be something happening in your body that is extrahepatic and not just related to the treatments??  Also, I know that as we age, our bodies are more susceptible to treatment related issues...     Like if somebody treats in their 20's, their post treatment experience will probably not be the same as someone who treats after age 50.    I really wish I had some answers for you.  I can just say, 'don't give up the fight'.    Keep those prayers going up, God is giving you strength even though you don't always feel it.     Susan400
