Telaprevir and VX-222 in Phase 2 Trials

Telaprevir and VX-222 in Phase 2 Trials

Just spoke to my contact at Vertex. Getting info on anything is very difficult because of the legal and in his own words "investment" concerns. Investment being the monetary investment by stockholders. In other words "politics again".

However, the Telaprevir and the VX-222 trials are in phase 2 finally. After the 3rd phase, they will apply for a fast-track on that drug. Unfortunately, we're talking at least two years or so for the release.

There will be a press release when the “rolling” NDA (New Drug Application) will be submitted to the FDA. It is going to be on a fast-track priority, meaning the FDA must make a decision to approve the drug within 6 months instead of 12 months. This should put the release of Telaprevir sometime next year as opposed to 2012 as first predicted.

I will try and squeeze info out of my contact whenever I can, but have to understand the implications, legal and financial in giving out too much information, as the contact stated his job could be in jeopardy if he discloses “his” thoughts on this as opposed to factual ongoing procedures.

PS Meant tela and 222 which personally if I had had a chance I would have loved to do rather than 72 weeks.

I was supposed to be in that study, but apparently I'm meant to get into something else down the road.  Just based on history, VX222, if as successful as expected, will most likely not be approved for 8-10 years or so.  Look how long Telaprevir and Bocep are taking.  They were expected out a few years ago and we're still waiting...

magnum, as usual thanks again for the info.

adamben, it does not take 8-12 yrs to get a new drug to market. average is around 5-6 yrs.

banarep, i also bought vertex stock when I was in the study. I bought it at $22, after a year I sold half of it and got inital investment back. I guess you can say at this point I doubled my money. Also waiting for Telap approval for stock to go through the roof ! I think even though stock is around $35 a share right now it is still a good buy. I see it going to at least $70 a share next year when approved by fda.
