The new drug

Hi everyone, I had to go for blood work and I talked to my treatment nurse about the new drug. She said that she had to go to a seminar about three new drugs that will be coming out. She said that the drug company's told them that they should not warehouse their patients because they are not sure when the drugs will be out and the new drugs might only be for patients who have been treated before and relapsed. She did say that it was up to me and my doctor, but she was just telling me what the drug company's said. Does anyone know the facts on this? Oh, she did say it would be a harder treatment as far as the side effects. Any info?

Nobody knows for certain at this point when the new drugs will actually be available. Given everything that is going on currently tho it could very well be in 6 mo. to a year. however that is just speculation on every ones part, including your dr and the nurse.

Your time frame to do treatment should be based on many factors,  have you had a biopsy to determine amount of damage, your geno type being two of the most important ones.

Harder treatment as far as side effects go seem like a "to early to judge" broad statement.
Nobody knows that yet for certain either, although  taking 3 drugs instead of two , may have that effect.

Hope that helps... WILL

The app0lication to the FDA went in yesterday. They are asking for a 6 month approval. Even if the drugs are approved for previous  treatment failures, they can be used off-label for treatment naive patients, as well. Personally, if I were a genotype 1, treatment naive patient, I would wait for the new drugs.
