Hep C relapse and too much exercise

I did 48 weeks of treatment and cleared the virus about 4 years ago, and have the virus is back,  they are currently testing to see if it is the same genotype or a new one,  to try and determin if it is a relapse or new exposure.  My question is,  did i cause the relapse but over exercising.  I am a fitness Trainer and instructor so workout,  15 + hours per week,  i feel fine  from it and have done this for 20 + years,  but did I cause the relapse.

When I was undergoing treatment, the doctor told me to keep exercising because it helps keep the body strong, the blood pressure at it's ideal level and the cholesterol down as well. Naturally, you have to watch what you eat. Yes, if it tastes great, most of the time it's no good for you.

Try this: In a Bullet (one of those blending machines), in one of it's cups, put 8 tablespoons of Yoplait peach or strawberry yogurt, 3/4 cup of blueberries and ½ cup of Simply Apple juice (available at Wal-Mart and other grocery stores). Blend all this together and drink it down. This is a great drink to pour anti-oxidants into you and keep you healthy through treatment. Sometimes you may notice a drop in appetite. The solution: Medical Marijuana or Ensure...

Best of luck to you...

I have to ask which tests you had done during the time you were clear, and at what timeframes from the end of tx, until recently.  Can you tell us more about what sort of PCR testing was done, and when?  Also, if you can post some of the actual test results from when you were "clear".  Sorry about your relapse.  Also, I wonder which tests were used to determine your relapse recently??

Could you go to your Dr. and get a copy of your Blood Work and post exactly what the results are?

Thanks folks for the feedback and comments,  no Steriod use, here.  I ended treadment Feb 2007, so was clear from then untill Late 2010.

Liver Function tests spike Jan 2011,  figured it could just be abnormal test, so waited 3 months and retested were still raised this is when they discovered the virus again in my blood.

Not sure if I will ever know if it is BACK, or if it a new infection.  Still waiting on Geno-type wich may shed some light.

Still waiting to get into to see my Hep C specialist to determin if re-treatment will be an option.

I was reminded privately by one of the forum members that anabolic steroids would not have an adverse effect on treatment or SVR. I shouldn't have posted about something I really didn't understand and had not educated myself about properly.

I also did not mean to imply that you were taking steroids. The intention was to help, but there is enough nonsense posted about our disease without me adding to it.

Take Care,
Dave

Did they do a PCR or could this possably be just antibodies?

I was just going to ask the same question as Dave about your post tx PCR's. Alot could depend upon when the last PCR was run...........

I am very sorry to hear of your relapse.

I doubt you cause the relapse from to much exercise, unless you used muscle building steroids which could have compromised your SVR, or of course if there was any other possible risk that you know of.

When was the last undetectable PCR that you had (how many weeks/years after you completed treatment?

No it is a virus it is either present or not present, exercising could raise your liver enzyme levels but not cause a relapse. If you were undetctible for four years than this is a new infection most undoubtedly.

Do you have any idea where you could have been exposed to the virus again?
