Treatment Delay

I was supposed to start treatment tommorrow..the 4th, but I havnt heard from my docter yet...they are waiting to hear from my insurance if they are going to cover it.  Im getting anxious, worried and alittle scared...Im more worried about the riba rage more then anything.  Im pretty witchy already...I just want to start it and get it over with Im so dang impatient.  Do you guys have any tips on helping me get through this without being a monster to my poor little three year old...Im not a single mom but I feel like one..hubby is a truck driver so he is gone all the time.  So Im alittle worried about being overwhelmed but I know I can do this...I have lots of friends who are here to help me and come over if I need it...I just thought you guys might have a few tips on making this alittle easier on me and my girls.

============

I felt the same way waiting to start tx.  I just wanted to begin tx and when I did, it was a relief, in a strange sort of way.  I was so worried about that first shot and it wasn't that bad, like I had expected.  I'm in my 4th week and things are going smoothly for the most part.  Just a few little aggravating sx but nothing major so far.

Try not to worry yourself ( easier said than done )  for you may be one of the lucky ones with minimal sides.  Also try to stay in the moment and don't think about what could happen down the road with tx.  Handle it one day at a time.  Like you said, you can do this !  Good luck !

One reason it's hard to give advice is that everyone experiences the treatment differently. Hopefully you'll have relatively few side effects.

If the side effects are more serious you probably already know this is going to be tough. My advice is be really easy on yourself and ratchet down your practices as quickly as possible. If would be easy to feel guilt for not being fully available for your girls, but guilt won't help at all. It will just make you feel worse. Don't feel pride. And let your husband know that he's going to come back from his trip with a huge pile of uncleaned laundry he's going to have to do, and he's going to have to make meals when he's around.

If you suffer from fatigue, you're going to have to find super easy dinners you can make. Perhaps a friend can help take you shopping, or even go shopping for you. If it's at all possible, you might consider hiring someone to help clean the house.

Again, don't feel pride or shame. It's a relatively brief period of time and you're doing this so you can be around for your grandchildren. Your kids will survive if there are dust bunnies under their bed for a year. Good luck!

I remember how hard it was to wait, once I decided to treat.  Don't worry, your poison will arrive soon enough!

About the riba rage, well you just have to decide which has more value, protecting your loved ones or giving in to the urge to lash out.  Its within your control most of the time.  Don't let yourself give in to it any more than you have to,and when you just can't be nice, try to take it out on stupid tv news anchors or bad drivers who can't hear you. Do your best and know sometimes its going to get away from you.  Forgive yourself when this happens, just make it right.    Its good that you have friends and loved ones around, and they will learn with you while you tx..  Hep C treatment is tough and its a long haul. It doesn't improve our characters any to be sick and scared.  Some days you will probably feel downright evil .  But in the end I hope you get SVR and have a long healthy life with your family.

All the best,
jd

You could talk to your doctor about AntiDepressants, like lexapro, etc.  I'm taking a low dose and i have no problem with the Riba Rage.  Of course, it's the only thing that is not a problem :)
