Have Providence Insurance, Portland, OR, looking for good "Medical Home" doctor

I thought I would ask this forum because we all have the same thing in common.
My new insurance, Providence, says I need to choose a "medical home" general practitioner.
I have a great doctor, but he is "outside network" and 30% more money.
I was hoping someone that has a good general practitioner on Portland Area would pipe up.
Nice to have a GP with liver knowledge if that is even possible.

TIA

Looking for recomendations first, since the 800 # usually gives you the less busy doctor they have on the staff.

I'm looking for an actual GP, just thought I'd try and get picky. I ain't doing no hep c work except for super nutrition, weight watchers, tons of exercise, and waiting for the man to come (3rd ingredient to treatment). Oh, I almost forgot: and reading this forum at least once a week.

:)

I'm sorry we didn't see your post sooner!

I live in CT so I'm not very much help for you but wanted to make sure your post went back up to the top in case someone had words of wisdom for you.

Most GPs know NOTHING about hep unfortunately.  I had to fire mine she was so incompetent and get a new one......had i listened to her I would be cirrhotic at best right now (she said I had no fibrosis and did not need to treat which turned out to be stage 3 and immediate treatment amongst other things).

You are doing the right thing trying to find the best GP possible if you have to deal with one - make sure you get a really good hep doc that can override any decisions that the GP makes.

Did you call the 800# and ask them if they knew of anyone in your plan that has experience with hep? that might be a good place to start.

Hoping all the best for you.
