Those ruby slippers are blessed by the Lord! God and I just had a chat he is watching and helping every single one of you! He mentioned low fat yogurt rather then banana bread when I am up set hehe.. Have a great day everyone and no matter what try to find one thing to smile about once a day.
Rose
What a great ending (and now I know why you wondered where I was). Can I borrow those ruby slippers next time someone gives me a hard time? Congrats on the UND!
congrats to you!!!! thats awesome news!! makes all the crappy days worth it!!! and like what was said they are your medical records and you have every right to them....
Congratulations! I am so happy for you, and it is wonderful news.. :-)
Ahh, I like a story with a happy ending! You clicked your ruby slippers 5 times, and got your Undtectable labs, and a way to get at your chart, anytime.
I totally need to do this also, it's our right! The Medical Assist saw me trying to look in my own chart last week (my labs were missing also) and told me I was "violating a hypocratical oath" by going in my own chart..whaaatt?
Deb, I ask for requirements prior to procedure on obtaining copies of results. Usually just a form to sign , no big deal. You should see some of the reports, I got my mri on dvd with software to load to watch dvd. Pretty cool video but I don't know what the hell I'm looking at lol. Most important is the radiologist report on ultrasound, mri, and biopsy. These reports had terminology in them that forced me to educate myself. Sometimes to the point of some knowledge that was a little scary. I think this is why a lot of docs don't want you with the results because of our inability to properly read them. If you learn how to read them it can really help your working relationship with your doc. It can also help refine your mental powers of positive thinking and hope.
Word of caution to the neophytes, if you are going to bite off a piece, you better chew before you swallow!!
Congrats on the tests Rose, I knew you could do it.
Wonderful. Although in some areas the process still resonates to past times, when patients were kept in the dark, those days are gone. At least where I live.
Deb: My liver clinic is at the hospital and they send the results to my nurse, and I can always call her if she doesn't contact me.
They mail them to me, but if they don't, I call the lab and request them.
Like it or not, often we simply have to be proactive.
If polite requests don't work, be aggressive.
It's your body and your health.
You do have the right to the results that affect you.
Thank you I was worried now I can just be tired lol you ladies are great we should open a chat room hehe..
Congratulations. That is great news.
I am so very very happy for you! This is wonderful news!!
Thank you for sharing
Great results. CONGRATS to you. Way to defend yourself and your treatment.
Wahooo they set me up a "My Chart" I can log in anytime I want and see all my blood tests after the doctor posts them! Screaming and getting up set paid the doctor assistant was mad sorta that I called my other doctor told her then employees should be giving me the right information and not telling me there was no order done when I know I have to vials of blood last week! We worked it out so its all good now and to top it off I am UNDECTABLE for week 11 or is it ten? Hmmmm brain fog better go count again lol.
I can cut and paste right to my email if I want I can see all my meds all my appointments! Thank You Lord Hugs to everyone!
I am getting help with my treatment from the hospital. Do they still have to give me a copy.. When I go to my regular doctor they always give me a hard time about getting my copies.. Can I say "Attitude" and dont understand why. I hate confration but would like to know what i can get and cant. Thanks Debbie
I agree with the above. At first, my RN case manager said absolutely not, she would not give me copies of the labs, that she was prohibited from giving me copies and that I had to go through Med. Records. (I knew none of that was true.) I went to Med Records and signed a release of information and asked them to send me copies of everything as soon as it was available in the computer. They said they would do that but that it would be faster if the case manager printed them and give to me. I said the case manager said she was prohibited from doing so. Med Rec. said, "She just doesn't want to do it." After that, the case manager never balked because she knew I knew that she could print them and give them to me. I did have to be very insistant and assertive but I got the labs, LOL.
My results ( other than the pcr) were always available not later then the day after my lab. If the nurse didn't call me, I called her.
You call them back. Tell them you have a right to know, you are the patient, it is not their job to withhold information.
Remind them you are the one doing medication with difficult side effects and to tell you immediately what your results are and to either fax or mail you copies.
Like rog said, I have a thick folder as well. Make a fuss if you must. There is no excuse for the was you're being mistreated.
Have them put on your orders that you get a copy. I have a file 2 inches thick from my first tx with all lab work, procedures, personal notes and research papers. I review entire file prior to visit with doc and this allows me to ask necessary questions. I get real ticked when I don't get my blood tests. I log and graph in excel and keep track of trends so that I can change diet etc. It help me. You are entitled like ny said. Best wishes , prayers and fingers crossed here for you. email me when you get answers so I get iti on my phone, unsure about my afternoon but will have phone with me. hugs....
