Hey Rick, so glad you're on the computer! It's an accumulation of fluid in the abdomen. Inside the stomach, you have a covering of your abdominal wall, then another covering that protects your organs. Fluid can build up inbetween and causes your stomach to swell and become painful. My brother was an alcoholic with hep c and his waistline got to be 55 inches and more. It was very difficult for him to bend over or get his shoes on. The dr's measured his stomach regularly. Now tell me about you:
Did you ever take the steroid for weight gain? Do you have a back-up plan if you get too sick to work? Doesn't flying make you light headed and dizzy sometimes? How will you know if you're having symptoms or not?!? Do you have good Short term disability or lots of vacation time? Are you nervous? I am so releived to have started this instead of just circling the runway in a holding pattern. (Little flight simile there or metaphor, can't remember my terms.)
I will tell more about me once you answer! I am thinking of you and praying for you, I just want you to be stress free about this. It's really doable!
Hugs from Bug
