"My husband is going to see someone in Indy next month and the doctors don't seem that they are to concerned about the hepititis because his appointment isn't intil september 27."
As was stated above, please be sure he will be seeing a hepatologist... not a GI. My Internal Med. doc referred me to a GI when he discovered my hep c, not a hepatologist. Believe me, the difference in the two is huge. I had to find my own hepatologist because the GI wasn't giving very good care and I'm so glad I did.
No, they don't rush your appointments for hep c because it progresses slowly, but that doesn't mean that it isn't something to take seriously.

Wow, that is great platelets! My husband never had a count that high, even before he got infected with hepatitis C.
Could you tell me what keeps his platelets in such good shape? Does he take some effective drugs for ITP? Or ITP simply comes and goes, and he has normal platelets in between?
My husband is going to see someone in Indy next month and the doctors don't seem that they are to concerned about the hepititis because his appointment isn't intil september 27.
His platelet count is up were they are suppose to be in 350,000.
Could you please let me know what your husband's platelet count is? My husband is also infected. He has low platelets, and his brother and father were diagnosed with severe ITP.
I agree with Trinity-because your husband's liver is seriously damaged and he has another serious disorder, you need to seek advice of an experienced hepatologist. Specialist can guide you in your decisions.
Hoping that your husband is seeing a hepatologist so that he can be given the best advice possible on how to move forward given the fact he has cirrhosis and low platelets.
