I had an endoscopy shortly after the ultrasound. The doctor said I had a few spots with esophegeal erosion / GERD and was placed on Aciphex. After I started tx, my innards felt like a boiling lava pit and was started on sucralfate as well.
No one said anything about Barrett's.
I had an endoscopy last spring, I start treatment in three days, I was diagnosed with acid reflux before the endoscopy by my primary care physician and prescribed prilosec which works great but my liver doctor wanted me to have the endosocpy also. Only thing is they couldn't do the procedure because I kept pulling the tube out while I was out. I don't remember any of this at all. Anyway, she wants to do the procedure again but under anesthesia rather then the drugs they gave me, but not until I am through with tx 48 weeks from now!

I had an endoscopy prior to tx. That was my original reason for seeing a specialist - pain in my upper left stomach area. He noticed I had PCT and ordered a hep panel while I was there. Very glad I did have the procedure because it gave him the chance to look for varices and abnormalities while trying to diagnose the source of my stomach pain. Turned out I have a Hiatal Hernia with esophegeal inflammation and prescribed Nexium everyday. Riba has aggravated my condition but Nexium keeps it in check.

I've had two-looking for varices.
Both were normal.
I started HCV treatment in Oct 07. One year prior I was diagnosed with Barrett’s Disease. Biopsy revealed high grad dysplasia and I underwent and an esophagectomy. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) removed one third of my esophagus and one third of my stomach. While at UAB they discovered I had HCV. I have been on acid reflux medication for over ten years--- Prylosec, Aciphex, Nexium at different times. All work well, preference was dictated by my HMO. This will be a life long treatment for me.
In July 2008 I had a follow up endoscopy and got a clean bill of health---no Barrett’s--no cancer.
I am HCV 1a, tested virus free at week four. Tomorrow I take my 53rd shot and one week from that my last (Yeah Baby). I have been on Procrit for the last 8 weeks. Good luck with the endoscopy.

Shortly after my first bx and dx of nonA/nonB, I had a gallstone lodge in the end of my common bile duct. They did an endoscopy after I passed the stone to make sure the duct was clear.
Which has nothing to do with your case and only slightly related to HCV.
