Who spreads this stuff?

This is not a diliberately stupid question but can fleas and other blood sucking insects spread this virus? If not why not. There are two cats in my house right now and an out break of fleas. I'm just a bit paranoid that if i'm still not clear that the cats could get infected or even my wife and 2two kids. Seriously many other virusis are passed on this way.

Hi...advantics is also good! It's 13.50 at local vet. But it's really worth it. I forgot to get our dogs, and it lasted almost 2 months. We've had no fleas at all.....but you'll have to bomb your house and leave for a few hours. Be sure to turn all cushions at an angle so it will get into spaces...everywhere!!! Good luck! I HATE FLEAS!!!!!! love @ prayers, Cindee

Hi, I was on my way out the other day...to my g.daughter's orientation...or something. Can't remember...anyway this guy came by selling meats. I told him I was sorry but could not afford any, because of my money issues, beacause of Hep C. He looked so "weird"! He said...hep c??? I said yes. I've had it for over 30 yrs...he said he had just found out 2 weeks before that he too has hep c!

He was trying to get some insurance and had to get a phyical. He found out them that he had it. He said the only way he could think of, as how he contracted the virus, was thru a tattoo he had gotten 2 yrs before.

I was in a "hurry" but we talked quickly about hep. He is going to a local heath dept. He said he is going to start tx soon and I gave him my home phone #, name and e-mail.

So I don't care WHAT any of these "tattoo" parlors are saying...they still are not safe like they proclaim to be!!!!

And so for nail salons...if all you women out there still want to keep getting your nails done...you can talk to the "owner" of the salon and they will either "sell" you, or give you your own box of tools. I did that, but now I don't have the $$$ to keep going, but "if" I ever do decide to have my nails done...I have my own box of tools in the dash box compartment of my car.

And just to let you gals know....when I took off my porclain nails...they weren't in too bad of a shape...but I now use "TIPS"...from QVC. It's a wonderful oil that you put on your nails that covers the surface of your nails w/ natural ingredients, inhibiting the absorption of damaging substances and chemicals that bombard the nail structure daily. Pushing back or cutting the cuticle is a harmful practice that allows bacteria and chemicals to damage the nail producing tissue. I now have long natural nails for the 1st time in my life!!!!!

If anyone is interested in TIPS, just go to the front page of  www.QVC.com   and go to the search box in the upper right hand area. Type in TIPS and this will take you there...it's much less costly than getting your nails done at a salon!!!! I am amazed at the effect this product has had on my nails!!!!! It also comes w/ directions, a plastic spatchler to dip into your make up...to keep from getting it on your nails...and it also comes w/ a great nail file...one like I've never seen before.

So now I don't have to worry about getting any infections from nail salons!!!!! Hope this helps..just my 2 cents worth.

I hope everyone is feeling good...as for me ..I go to my pain doctor tomorrow to try to get to the bottom of my lower back pain that goes all the way down to my heels. My KNEES hurt so bad!!!! So please keep me in your prayers and I will comtinue to do the same for you all!!!!! love @ prayers, Cindee

I do agree with you that its a crying shame that this disease can go unnoticed for sometimes decades in our body and then,,,our life is on the line.  As far as afraid of being around your family and using knife,,,Nothing to worry about..Even if you cut yourself while cooking,,,you know of your disease and would quickly clean up. And if you didn't have hep c and cut yourself while preparing a meal,,,same thing.

I do realize there are many ways to get this disease, but I do remember all the questions I received from the doctors. No other toothbrush that I can recall, yes probably a brush, & most definitely the razor thing, along with taking care of my husbands every little cut on his finger.  I don't blame him, I know he did many foolish things in his earlier days, including tattoos, (not me) but I did get an ear piercing in a mall about 25 yrs ago, not sure they used sanitary means for that either. It is just too bad that so many disease go undetected for so many years and then you end up with your life hanging on a line. I am even fearful of cooking dinner for my family when they come over because I do cut myself often enough with a knife and refuse to slice the meat for them. Jody

I have to say something to your comment, "I never did anything to cause this disease" I can see that you are not aware of all the various ways of exposure to this virus. Ever had a manicure, ever have a transfusion, ever use anyone elses hair brush, tooth brush? There are many, many ways for people to be exposed. Tatoos, even if they change the needle, the virus can live on in the ink. A lot of us did things that were risky, but never knew anything about hep c. But we didn't "cause this disease" Especially the ones who became exposed (as you did) through no fault of their own.

Sam, you can pass this disease to your family if you are not extremely careful.  I believe I received mine from my husband, I have never stuck a needle in my arm or did anything of that nature that would have caused my disease.  I played doctor to my husbands cuts all the time, with bandaids, salves etc.  In addition to using his razor on my legs, please be careful

MMMM yeh i remember the hiv monkey bit but ive looked (a couple of times now) and there are no monkeys in our house but the cats have got bloody fleas. Now we lost millions from the BLACK DEATH fleas again(plus rats of course) but we have cats now as well and dogs. "Coughs and Sneezes Spread Deaseases" We are vulnerable
I admit though if isee a monkey i will hit it with a pointed stick.

there is canine hepititis, contagious viral disease that primarily affect's a dog's liver. During it's acute phase it is spread  by contact with urine, feces or other secretions, but there's a vacine.I'm sure it's the same for cat's.As for the transfer from us to the or vise versa, i don't think so...but who knows , wasn't there something about monkeys and hiv?.....
