I am on entecavir (baraclude) .  Im new too- precore (not sure why that matters).   Started in early august.  what do you want to know?  So far, no major symptoms, but sometimes i have a  bit of discomfort.  i have my first follow up this week, so i cant tell you yet if its made a huge difference that my doc predicts.  i have pretty low viral count so she suspects I'll be undetectable within 6 months.

ps-  Apparently I've been living with this disease since birth, or very early childhood,  I was vaccinated at 16/17 and am foreign born.  I'm pretty  sure that this makes a difference in how the virus will respond to the treatment...

I am sorry, but that has nothing to do with having a "mutant B virus". If you do not know the nature of the mutant detected or you possible in fact even do not have a known mutant virus then the question of "Entecavir" in your setting can not be meaningfully persued.

Which mutation was found ; A precore or a resistance mutation? This has bearing on the optimized therapy.

Were you treated with lamivudine/epivir previously and had a viral breakthrough? Or did your doc order an Inno Lipa strip mutation test  or a sequencing to identify you as a precore/ core promotor mutant carrier before he wanted to start treatment.
