One very reasonable alternative would be to avoid alcohol for the time being, and begin to look at medical insurance so you can manage the disease long term. If you’re looking for herbs and supplements, there really aren’t any agents that have proven successful for managing development of fibrosis. Some people use milk thistle for this purpose, but there isn’t much data on its utility.

You’ll eventually want a biopsy to establish a baseline liver condition; discuss this with your doctor at some point. Most importantly, avoid alcohol; most studies suggest it contributes to fibrotic progression—

I suppose that depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. If you’re attempting to eliminate the virus, currently the only proven agents are interferon and ribavirin.

If you’re trying to coexist with the virus, some members here have used various herbs and supplements with varying degrees of success.

What are your goals? What is your genotype of HCV? How long do you believe you have been infected?
