I had almost all of thoes symptoms except for the dark smelly urine and the positive hiv. My advice get a diffrent doctor and seek a specialtist!
If your risk was sexual, hep B is MANY times more likely to be transmitted than
Hep C. hep B and C have the same symptoms, if symptoms are present.
High Alt, dark urine, light stool etc.
there is an effective vaccine for hep b, but not hep c, unfortunately.
I would take the Dr's advice and the people on the forums advice. Thank God that I didnt have HCV and run with it! This is something you do not want! Next time you think about having sex be safe and prepared and save yourself alot of worry. And IBS can cause alot of those symptoms as can other things. You have been tested and nothing was found Thank God! Now let it go and see another Dr for different tests.
If you keep searching you will always find someone to give you the answer you desire.
You can even find someone will even sell you some crap to eradicate your imagined hcv or hiv.
The people on this forum are dealing with real, not imagined hcv. It's takes a lot out of us to live, treat and think about real HCV that we are forced to deal with. We are not doctors and our advice is unlikely to be better then the experts you contacted already.
Go to a GI doctor and try to find out what is causing your elevated enzymes. We are here for you if you it is ever confirmed by PCR that you have hcv.

You are not a burden... it is just that with having so many negative tests and being told o by the doctor here and also you must have been told by the doctor or doctors that ran all the tests ..that you do not have HCV or HIV...and you continue to state you do...well there really isn't anything much we can seem to help you with.
I hope you get your situatuon resolved...what ever it may be..
Good luck

..."suffering through something". I don't doubt that. But, you seem to be fixated on HIV/HCV and before that it was HIV/CMV. It was an inefficient risk with a "stranger' and you don't know if he had anything but a pretty smile in the first place. You've had the requisite tests and don't belive the results or the professional/lay people who give you answers. It almost sound like you are disappointed. In only one of your posts you skirtingly reference a doctor. My guess is that all this is self-diagnosis and too much time on the internet. See a doctor and, for goodness sake, take someone's advice. You'll probably find quickly that the people in the HIV forum are more polite than the people in the HCV forum.
I will not post anymore, I am leaving the forum. Sorry , I never meant to become a burden I am just stressed out and not sure what is happening to me. I wish everyone here good luck and good health.
After many many posts on this forum and the HIV forum ..this was DR. Cummins reply to you. just 10 days ago... and as there are many people here truly dealing with the disease of HCV.. that tests DID confirm..I would suggest ..like the good doctors says ...it is time to find another disease. and move on..........
Good Morning
We try, like the other doctors on the forums, to answer your questions within a 48 hour time frame. Some times that isn't possible. You are of course at liberty to contact the Medhelp administrator and ask for a refund.
With respect to your questions, I do not believe that you have either hepatitis C or HIV and I do not believe that you are co-infected and that has caused diagnostic confusion.
The test indicate that you have neither of the illnesses you are concerned about.
If you remain unwell then you need to go and see a doctor and discuss the issues and the tests you have had to date.
Common causes for minor elevation of ALT or other liver enzymes include obesity resulting in fatty liver; excess alcohol and also a combination of the two.
Best regards, Sean
You have IBS - how many times do people have to tell you you do not have HCV or HIV.
End of the story now call the doctor schedule a PCR and then call a therapist. Seriously that is the best thing you can do for yourself at this point in your life. And remember to wrap it up in the future so you don't make yourself any crazier.
PS NOBODY test negative for a year without being newly infected. That's the most insane thing I have ever heard of - do not believe all that you read in some stupid tell all book.
I have been going through the most difficult time of my life, the abdominal pains, cramping, elevated liver enzymes, bloating, etc and I am terrified. The website "The Body" has stated that this can occur with co infection with both viruses at the same time. There have been examples of nurses who did not test positive for either virus until after a year. What is your purpose in this forum? To be ignorant and make fun of people who are suffering through something? Congrats, your a funny guy.
So, it's a simultaneous infection that has synergistic rapidity and at the same time is characterized by delayed detection that cannot be revealed by known diagnosric testing? I think I get it now, Kal El.
I never tested positive for HIV yet either, I am talking about duel infection delaying detection of both antibodies
Not THAT fast, not even close. And not with no antibodies either. You need a PCR RNA test to determine if there is presence of ANY virus. No virus, no HCV. No HCV, no progression, no infection, let alone co-infection.
Personally, I don't think you have HCV and I don't think you need a PCR RNA test. However, you seem convinced you have both HIV and HCV. Your HIV PCR RNA test is negative. That means no HIV. I expect a HCV PCR RNA test will be the same. That test is accurate beginning about 3 weeks after suspected infection. Until you know for SURE that your HCV status is positive, there's really nothing more to be done for you here since 4 negative antibody tests would say you do not have HCV.
You can settle this easily as Copyman has said. Get a PCR test. If virus is found in your blood (not antibodies, but virus) you have HCV. If the viral load is undetected, you do NOT have HCV. While it is true that HIIV can accelerate the course of HCV, that does not happen early on in the disease. It happens much later. After you get your undetected status, think about visiting a psychiatrist and find out why you are so sure you are ill. HCV does NOT have symoptoms like you describe early on. And sex is not an easy way to transmit HCV, unlike HBV and HIV. ALT & GGT have lots of things that cause elevations. Do you drink? Do you take any meds?
Dude you do not have hepc. And none of us have had those pronounced symptoms and some of us have vast amounts of liver damage. Itchy skin try a moisturizing lotion. Headache take two tylenols.
PS the liver has no nerves to feel 'liver pain' so i think more likely you have by your symptoms IBS and have been giving yourself a headache trying to play internet doctor. The belly button sort of gives it away as it is no where near the liver.
Get an antidepressent and go to a GI for IBS that's my advice since you don't have HCV.
So you did test positive for HIV well we dont know much about that.
The pronounced symptoms I believe I am experiencing are because of co infection from the same episode with both Hep C and HIV. This can cause Hep C to progress at a much more advanced rate.
did you test for hep-b also?
hep-b is more common to be transmitted in sex.
You previously wrote:
"I have tested HIV and Hep C antibody negative out to 9 months after a high risk incident (unprotected sex) . I have had elevated liver enzymes for over 5 months, intense upper abdominal pains, sore hands and feet, stiff muscles and joints, headaches, major fatigue, chills . My urine smells and is darker in color . I have every classic symptom of Hep C "
A few things..
Unprotected sex is not a high risk for HCV. And, where do you get those "classic symptoms" ? I had HCV for 35 years with significant liver damage and never expereinced all those symptoms. The closest I came to that list were a number of week-long benders with copius amounts of drinks and drugs.
The subject here is HCV. If you have question about HIV you should visit that forum. But I think they've already answered your questions. You probably need to see the right kind of doctor
I'd agree with copyman that four negative antibody tests for Hep C are not likely to be wrong. You said you had a PCR RNA test for HIV - if you haven't had the same test for HCV, then that would be your next bet since you don't trust the antibody results. If THAT is negative, then you do NOT have HCV. I don't think you have HCV but you need to believe that and the PCR RNA test for HCV should put that to rest. You're wasting time focusing on HCV and HIV so I'd go get the HCV test and if both are negative, move ON to something else. Maybe your docs are smarter than you think.
OK then, I will be the one to break the news to you......you do NOT have Hep C. It is NOT possible to have 4 neg antibody tests and have Hep C. And I'm 100% certain that a PCR test that is Neg is proof you don't have Hep C. If you didn't have one yet get it.
Do yourself a favor and look to something else causing how you feel.
Best of luck
how about a pcr for hep c ?
I am glad you find that amusing but what else could it be. I have every single, pronounced symptom of Hep C. The rasied GGT, ALT pain, abdominal swelling, pain, excess gas, lack of appetite, itching, dark smelly urine, pale stool. I also had fever and oral thrush before. Can HIV PCR DNA test be wrong at 10 months?
you could just start treatment then....but one of those witless experts will have to prescribe it and they keep score by running lots of those useless tests..... .it"s a conundrum. Good luck
Maybe you need to decide that you have a different disease. Perhaps one that has less specific testing and which will fit your needs a little bit better. Ever thought of fibromyalgia? It's popular these days. With the new meds, HCV is so yesterday !
