did she have a biopsy? did the doctor say anything about waiting for the new drugs coing out in the next few years? These new drugs most likely will cut the the treatment duration in half with a higher % of SVR.
Good luck to both of you
Her VL could make a big difference in her response. Lots of 1a's clear early with low VL, but many, many get there even with a high VL. FlGuy's comment was funny but really good and I hope lots of guys read it. It's so true.
PS I had two geno1s (1A AND 1B) and whacked them both........dragonslayers don't really worry whether we got the big knife of the little knife we just keep stabbing away more ferociously......and woman are tougher so she will be just fine! :)
I wish you both well....Being a 1A is NOT the end of the world many many people SVR'd with 1A. Especially this year here on the forum.
She will make it like you did!
Good luck and be patient!
Charm :)
Sorry for the bad news Chuckles but take FLGuys advice.........he's one smart man who's completely been there and back again :)
And don't worry it might be longer but because you've now been around the block you've learned a lot of things that will help lessen the time for her. Your hard earned education will help her course of treatment go more effectively and eaiser I am sure.
And that is something you can be proud of!
You have a great opportunity to do something for which men rarely have a chance. Over the years, in trying to be supportive to my wife, in a lot of situations she would say "and just how would you know?". A lot of these things dealt with being pregnant, giving birth, being a wife and mother.
So here you are, soon to be a tx veteran, helping your wife through a treatment twice as long as yours. When she says to you "and just how would you know" - you will know. So, in reality, you are a lucky guy with the full weight of the male gender on your back. Don't let us down!
I wish you all the best and good luck...my prayers are with you
