Platelets of 202 are stratospheric. It ain't the platelets - I'll tell you that. I bet it's pretty benign. Get it checked out to put your mind at rest, but please don't stress between now and then. I've been through that cycle, and it's always nothing.
Take care.
I had bleeding cuticles on my hands many times. Are you washing your hands more lately or have you put your hands in water more than usual? I had to skip bowling one night because all three fingers that hold the ball were cracked and bleeding. So glad you are nearly 3 months post tx. The meds can stay in the body for a long time, and you know how the meds dries out the skin.
Take care,
Bug
I have no idea what the bleeeding thing is, but I've noticed, as a diabetic, that when I poke my finger to draw blood for the glucose meter, it takes longer to stop bleeding than it did before I treated. Haven't really given it much thought, but there must be something to it. Now you've got me worried, but not very much.
Just wanted to say hello. I have no idea about the bleeding thing. I do agree that if it continues or gets worse see your doctor or if you talk to your NP ask them.
i think there are other clotting factors in the blood besides platelets. i know doctors check a clotting factor when they do the Prothrombin Time (PT). this is just one of many things that can add to the overall picture of liver condition.
i've this bad habit of rubbing my hands together...maybe thts what sort of ruptured my cuticle, cuz i see a gash where the nail meets the flesh. but two fingers on two hands seems a bit strange.
that too on the same day.
the blood isnt oozing out constantly...i mean the clotting is pretty quick. however, the fact that the black clotted blood is still there means it tends to bleed then clot, then bleed, then clot.
my gums also bleed profusely. i'm 99 percent sure if i get a platelet count, it will turn up in the 250 plus range.
what really scares me is the near black color of my blood clot. i havent seen it like that before..usually it was brownish.
First of all, congrats on almost reaching 3 month PCR.
That bleeding thing does sound strange. I'm in the middle of 72 week TX and I've noticed I tend to bleed at the slightest scrape, especially on my hands, fingers and feet. Last week I nicked my pointer on a shard of glass and it took a good 20 minutes to stop the bleeding.
let us know what you find out, please, and i agree you should see a Dr. ASAP.
