Hi Bambee:
I've been on Pegasys for almost all of the past 6 years and I've been really struggling with light for about that same amount of time.
Fluorescent lights are intolerable! I even have to wear a ball cap during meetings in the conference room.
Inside, when I'm talking to someone where the open blinds are behind them I quickly get a headache -- I put on my sunglasses when I have them with me.
Are you sensitive to fluorescent lights and open blinds while on treatment?
Cheers, GB
I wasn't warned but am approaching everything with caution...guess I'm not the only one. I've also lowered the setting on my displays so they aren't as bright. Back to "normal"soon lol
Thanks for the link. I had no idea about the link between vitamin d deficiency and hcv. Catch 22
I am in week 26 of 3X treatment with Vic and have only mild vision issues with light. I have been attributing it to being relatively "house bound" with indoor lighting but it could be a sx of treatment. My skin is very pale (anemia) but I try to get outside for a few minutes of sun every day I can. I finish treatment 4/6 and go to the beach for vacation 6/1. Anyone have a sense as to how long the skin sensitivity remains?
watch your vitamin d....mine was so low after tx...i couldn't take any sun...its so nice now to be able to walk in the sun...now i'm fine 4 months post tx.....billy

Yes, I have light sensitivity. I live in Minnesota and I am always driving with the visors low and squinting. (And it is winter here, the sun is low, lol.)
Yeah, I was told to stay out of the sun during tx. Didn't have any sun related issues that I recall but I would be a bit more concerned about the eyes. We were advised to get a baseline eye exam just prior to tx, so that if there were any random changes, our eye doc could stay on top if it. Certainly, if you have any pain and/or changes in vision, be sure to let your eye doctor know.
Best,
Bee
I live in florida and we had a beautiful winter and I lived like a vampire. Ispoke with my dr. on wed. about getting back outside now that I am done treatment and he said spf 50 I usually use 30 so no big deal, just to get out and walk on the beach again. But sun and treatment is not a good match.
Yes I am blinded by the light. I really hadn't been out much.
I do too. Skin and eyes. Even the cell phone. The sun really makes me itchy n rasht. Any heat really. I've had to pull over on the way home from work just to wait for sunset so I could drive!
Sooo glad you got out w your kiddos for a while.
Hope it was a great day otherwise. All that spring color can cheer you up. Karen :)
